supersprint section 1 - test pipes

Has anyone installed these themselves? I'm wondering what hardware you used and if anyone has pics of them installed. Or do they need to be welded on? I'm putting them on an 07 e90 n52.
Any help would be much appreciated.
thanks!

I have them. I installed with bmw exhaust clamps. Not a hard install a cordless sawsall is pretty much the only tool you need, maybe a dremel to deburr after the cut.

Yes it was the same. BMW has a part number for an exhaust clamp. Don’t know it off hand

You used a 55mm clamp correct? The one listed on the turner motorsports page?

I am just making sure cause the application for that part doesn't show that it fits an E82.. there's a different p/n for that which is a larger size (65mm)

Can you just use clamps on both sides? No welding required?

Nah I kept the stock resonator. I only had the secondary cats removed. I didn't want the drone or rasp and that helps contain it.. who knows what it would sound like without one or with an aftermarket vibrant res.

On my set up, it essentially sounds like a race car and has the smell of a drag strip. (3IM, MILVs, AA headers, SS section 1, stock res, AA 128i axleback exhaust)

I'll try to record a clip later in the week/this weekend.. but even then it doesn't do it any real life justice.

I wonder if this ss pipes retain the transmission clamps for the mid-pipes? And do they bolt to PE? I’m currently running the AFE Mid pipes and they don’t retain the oem trans mounts.

Uploaded a cold start of the car.. it's godly. This cat delete triggered an SES (2C9C code) which ended up being a simple Bank 1 Cat 1 sensor replacement.

Now my butt dyno really feels it. The car pulls a bit better than it did than when I just had 1/2 cats (primaries got taken care of when I did AA headers)

Do you have any significant drone? what about smell now that you have deleted the secondaries?

Smell doesn't bother me at all, I personally like it.. especially when those bad boys heat up.

drone? non existent, that's why I kept the stock resonator on. Thought about doing Supersprint Sec 2 but I don't think the sound would get much better than it is now. Don't know anyone with that set up either so I wouldn't be able to tell if it would sound good or not.

Sounds incredible! Is there an increase in power across the entire powerband? Where is it most noticeable?

This makes me miss my AA headers. Stupid emission inspections.

from 2nd to 4th gear.. especially downshifting under a tunnel. of course this also depends on what you have on your car. I went FBO.. the power is pure and linear from 2,800 to 6,500 RPM. Other passengers have said the removal of the cats has definitely changed how the car feels on the road. It's much smoother in power delivery as everything becomes free flowing. I kept my original cats and I did this when I did my did my headers as well so I can go completely back to stock if I ever get sick of the sound. It does smell but it comes and goes and isn't a big of an issue for me.

I just can't stand the fact that people decide to drive like they're in Mario Kart when they hear me coming or they pull up behind me and tailgate. just going 15 mph sounds faster than it is. I want to dyno it some day
