Pulled The Trigger on an E93 335is! Question about the Side Mirrors.

I'm incredibly fired up!

I know many 335is coupe owners are not into the 'verts, but living in the San Francisco Bay Area makes a vert almost mandatory! There are so many gorgeous open roads, from the coast to Napa to Tahoe that just beg to be driven topless.

I do have a question. I'm not exactly enamored of the black side mirrors. I actually requested color-coordinated mirrors, but they won't do that at the factory. The dealership has promised to paint them to match the exterior if that's my wish after the car arrives in July. Do you think that would detract from the value of the car or diminish the unique traits which separate the 335is from the rest of its 3 stable mates?

I ordered Le Mans blue with oyster/black interior, so at least the black mirrors transition gracefully into the black two-tone interior. At least that's my theory!

I also refused to get a car with a second dash hump, forcing me to forego the navigation system. I'm counting on my smartphone to handle those duties. Otherwise, she's loaded for bear.

I'm looking forward to joining you all in this exclusive club! I have not seen one 335is, either coupe or vert, during my daily commute on 280 between SF and SJ. And, considering the fact that the SF Bay Area probably has one of the heaviest concentrations of Bimmers on the planet, that makes the 335is even more special!

I will share pix when this baby arrives.

Cheers and a heartfelt thanks on this Memorial Day weekend to all here who have served in our country's armed forces and a prayer for those who made the ultimate sacrifice to bring us the freedom we enjoy today.

Congrats! I wish I would have gotten a vert. Didn't have the extra $ to spend at the time.

Don't forget the grille, trim and exhaust tips are black along with the mirrors. Keep the mirrors. If you really don't like them later on someone on the forum will trade you in a second. I would not have the dealer paint them. With that said I hate the stupid huge mirrors altogether. Best thing would be to swap in the M3 mirrors like some have done.

I agree, DO NOT change out the mirrors. The mirrors just add that extra detail that make the IS unique. My 60 year old father took delivery to a 2013is in January with LeMans + saddle interior and he is very old school with regards to aggressive looking cars (hes driven only Nissan Maxima/Altimas with no modding for 30 years). His one gripe while ordering the car was actually the carbon fiber interior of the trim. He asked the dealer for wood, but they were like "Sir, this car is a special edition and it only comes with this one trim." He was perplexed, but after taking delivery, he really liked it.

My point is, don't change it! At the very least, wait till you see your ride in person before you decide to alter a beautiful looking factory car!

I know what you are saying regarding the IS. I am in Marin and have only seen one other IS. Also your color combo is going to be sweet, I went to order the same combo and they had a space grey in stock. Test drove it and bought it, could not wait eight weeks.

The trim is aluminum, not carbon fiber.

Off topic-- do you DCT guys notice a difference when the sport button is pressed? For the life of me, I just can't see any change at all!

Yes with sports button pushed alone, the shifting def. go faster than regular D. But not as aggressive comparing to DS mode IMO.
