rear ended

Its been one heck of a week folks.. bike stolen, and was rear ended today. not much damage, and no injuries, however... would it be worth it to try to find a msport bumper vs getting an OEM one... really like the diffuser on those.. any suggestions on what to tell the insurance?

Well, hell, no wonder. You're driving around with that grunt (Civilians: codeword for Army soldier, thankfully, not a jarhead (Marine)) plate...musta been some irritated squid (Navy sailor for the uninitiated civilians on this forum) who had it in for their brethren soldiers driving such a fancy vehicle outside of a cammy-clad Hummer that bumped you...LOL!

All kidding aside, when I had my frontal lobotomy (front end smashed), I parlayed my mishap into an upgrade lci M-Sport front bumper/hood, thanks to Sonic Tuning. I suggested Sonic Tuning provide the replacement parts instead of the collision center's supplier, as long as the costs were comparable.

Also, there is that group gig going on with Pat@SonicTuning for front and rear M-Tech (pre-/lci)/M-Sport (lci) bumpers, that might be worthwhile, but that might take months to get.

If you try JGMods, they are selling their rears for a reasonable price. Unfortunately, the shipping costs eradicate the savings gain. I found out that JGMODS has their M-Tech rear available for $450 (+50 for lci), but the shipping cost is $150, so you are looking at $600-650 unpainted or $1025-1075 painted. Now, if you went to Jason/Evan at GetBMWParts, you would pay just $491 for the unpainted bumper cover alone, plus nominal fees to pick it up, or $586+ for the entire bumper assembly. Easier to get OEM if you are in a hurry:

Then, I couldn't stand the rear, so I went back to Sonic Tuning and got my M-Tech rear bumper, which fits both pre- and lci. I had the diffuser painted matte black to match the trim, so it is not grey and a little darker than normally seen on this forum. This is a lousy shot, but you get the picture:

definitely go for the MTech Rear bumper. Give the insurance company the OEM part number and pricing. It shouldn't be much different or offer to pay the difference. Tischer has them on sale right now.

Same, went RC after AC, but retired now from Squid Squad for good. Decal on the back window (stolen from son who is a former Jarhead) has been really, really good to have... if you catch my drift...

99.99 percent...still needs a little adjustment due to oversize tabs, but once it is done, it will be 100 percent...on fit and finish...this looks like a collision shop OEM alternative...every bit as good as OEM, but at a more reasonable price. Looking to eventually swap out diffuser for a different one to accommodate quad tips...LOL! Just cain't git enuff...

Update.... got the appraisal and insurance quoted me $476 for new OEM bumper Tischer has it for $491 online. total with paint and labor i have 1k to work with.

I decided to go with the OEM M-Sport from Tischer just because its local and there will not be any fitment issues ($635)

My question is... any one have a direct contact so that i can pick it up? I know there is a group buy post with Pat @ Sonic tuning, however not sure if i want to drive around with a dented bumper ya know.

Also looking for MD body shops... not trying to drive down to VA for the work being Im about 15 min from Silver Spring..any suggestions
