Sorry if this is not the proper forum for this, but I'm curious now.

I've had my car a year or so. I sometimes get nods or waves from other BMW guys.

Honda's seem to do fly-bys.

American cars just seem to rev at me - even going in opposite lanes of traffic.

HOWEVER, I've noticed recently while at a drive-though that people look really hard at me and my car. I can't figure it out. I'm 29 but I have a sweet little baby face and look about 25. I worked my ass off and bought a car I enjoy and was able to pay for upfront.

I'm not sure if it's a BMW thing, or the CF hood/black wheels confuse people but I remember in my Honda days I got zero looks and all other car guys seem to go out of there way to give me a thumbs up, etc.

So, question is: do you catch people staring at your car or you while you're driving? I can't tell if the look is of jealousy (yes, typical BMW ego), or of fear (since I am browned skinned and young in a BMW maybe I'm going to rob them or hijack somethin?). My gut says (since it's older men 40s) that always seem to stare is that they're tryign to figure out what a punk kid is doing in a BMW.

Maybe my car is ricery than I thought. Who knows. Not that it really bothers me, but I'm curious:

Do you guys find people staring off at your car? I mean staring hard to the point they snap their necks trying to catch a rear profile?

stare at you in a 328i? Must live in a hicksville little town down south. Do you really live Atlanta and get this reaction?

I live close by NYC and my car is pretty rare (1800 made in NA) and I don't get stares. I get the occasional looks but mostly because of the exhaust/intake sound

I get those looks here too. I'm young (24) and driving a BMW in a town where the closest BMW dealer is 2+hrs away. Plus I don't dress the usual t-shirt/jeans/muddy boots. I get them everywhere here, not even just driving in my car.

I was 25 when I bought my Exige and got a lot of looks and thumbs up. Heads turn when the Audi drives by as well but that's because of the AWE exhaust.

To the op, people stare at me all the time. Well, at least i think i can feel them staring at me. I mean, i don't look at them, cause i don't want them to think I'm starring at them, but i can feel them looking at me. Or maybe they are looking at my car. Either way, i know they are all looking at me or my car all the time. Maybe they are all wondering where the carbon fibre is on my car.
