..::PSI::.. 1988 E30 M3 DTM Replica

While the majority of our exposure here on Bimmerpost is with the newer BMW models, as a full service shop we've seen just about every single year and platform produced in this country - and some from overseas as well. One of the best examples of our passion for the classic BMWs is this comprehensive DTM replica belonging to the owner of PSI. The result of singular vision and countless hours of hard work, this head-turning machine was featured in European Car magazine, and today gives our shop character and inspiration - plus seeing plenty of driving time!

All over the world enthusiasts collect 1:18 and 1:43 scale models of vehicles that define their own personal love for automobiles. Their collections shed light on the dream cars that they aspire to own someday. But for some, the models define what they currently own or what they will build in the future.

Enter the Kurt Thiim 1988 Race Car:

MOD LIST:
S52 Swap w/ OBD 1 Conversion
RD Sport RHD Headers
Full Custom Exhaust
Euro 3.5 HFM w/ 24lb injectors
Custom tuning by Active Autowerke
3M Matte Black Complete Wrap
3M Matte DTM Livery w/ Custom Cut Matte Decals and Lamborghini Pearl Yellow Striping
17 inch Hartge 3 piece Wheels
TC Kline Racing SA Coilover Suspension

Enjoy the photos!

So other than the body shell, flared fenders, and some interior bits, this car about as many original E30 M3 parts as my 2006 E90 325i...

That's really the heart and soul of every E30 M3; it just isn't the same car without it.

I believe the point of this entire build was NOT to have an OEM, or OEM+ M3. From the title and description, it is clear the idea was to re-create a classic DTM car - and to that end, it looks brilliant!

I had an E30 then an E36 M3. While the E36 has an engine with more torque, the sound of the S14 with a Borla or something similar is just awesome.

The problem with the S14 is tht they get tired and a good rebuild is on the order of $8K.
Drop the newer motor in and put the S14 on a shelf.
