Auto Leveling and Adaptive Functions
I have a E93 that came with factory adaptive Xenon headlights. When I first start the car and turn the headlights on, I see the beam move down then up, confirming the auto leveling is working. When I'm driving and I turn, the headlight beams point side to side in the direction I'm turning the steering wheel.
I just replaced the projectors in my headlights and there's not enough clearance for the projectors to move side to side, so I disabled the adaptive function. I removed the adaptive modules (small circuit board under a plastic cover) from the bottom of each headlight, removed $524 from the VO and default coded my NFRM module. I don't get any adaptive headlight errors, however I also don't see the auto-leveling check when I first start the car. Is there a way to confirm the auto-leveling is still working? Can I still have this without the adaptive function? I also noticed that without $524 in the VO it looks like the cornering light function was removed from the car. Is there a way to easily restore the cornering light functions via NFRM coding? I also lost headlights as welcome lights when I unlock the car after removing $524, but that's easy to code back. |

I compared the default .TRC file to my previous file with all the coding before when I had $524 and I think I found what I'm looking for. There are separate options to enable the cornering lights independently of the adaptive lights.
I also noticed the auto-leveling was still enabled, however there's a parameter for an auto leveling error check and I think that may be the function on startup when the lights dip and then adjust back up. I'll update this when I re-code these parameters, but I'm hoping this is it. |
