2024 Update - e91 Hitch Options

Just posting this so hopefully someone in my boat doesn't have to go through the same PITA I have gone through. I was trying to find a hitch option for my 2011 e91 328i x drive, primarily for carrying a bike rack.

Checking the curt site as well as eTrailer and Napa, they will all say that Curt 11367 is the correct fit. This is not accurate. The holes do not align with the bumper.

I then searched for Curt 11771 as that was what people on this forum mentioned using and in my hurry to order (I didn't want to have to take the bumper off again) I ordered what came up from the "Curt 11771" Google search. Unfortunately, eTrailer redirected me to Curt 11033 without my noticing.

While Curt 11033 does align with the bumper holes, the bar does not align with where it is supposed to attach on the crossmember. I am running the bumper without the bar but it's not super confidence inspiring only being attached at 4 points on the bumper. It also required a fair bit of cutting on the undertray of the bumper to make it fit.

It looks like the Stealth Hitch is the only real option now and in hindsight I should have just bit the bullet and paid the higher price. I am going to try to fabricate up the bar that came with 11033 to make it work longterm, but it's a real PITA.

To summarize:
Curt 11367 - DOES NOT FIT
Curt 11771 - DOES FIT, OUT OF PRODUCTION
Curt 11033 - FITS BUMPER HOLES, SUPPORT BAR DOES NOT FIT

Yup, this sounds about right. I bought the 11033 only to find it didn't fit. Ended up fabricating the crossmember bolt to actually fit but hey, I have a bike rack now!

Nice! Any advice you can lend on fabricating the crossmember bolt? How'd it handle the big road trip?

It did great! The rack that we got had the crossmember mount which was angled up. We cut the last inch or so off of the long bar that goes towards the front of the car and welded it back on after getting rid of the curled part of it. Just get ready for lots of measuring.
