I would have a look for yourself, but I found almost no information out there. If you want to skip the CANTCU/Lamik, go with a 6hp28.

I was also wondering this. The Lamik I heard is best. You have limited options for the OEM route. Not sure if anyone has successfully done it.

Transmission failure message in 8th gear
Hello everyone. I too have recently done the 8hp45 swap on my 07 e90 N54. Everything works great. no codes or anything weird. Except for i get a constant Transmission failure display on the instrument cluster and the media center but only in 8th gear. Does anyone know how to disable this so can actually see my center display on the cluster not a constant gear. again this only happens in 8th gear. Is there a way to update the setting on the cluster? What app or software do i need to fix the configuration. I also get a fuel pump error message as i have done some fuel pump modifications. how can i remove these error messages.
the cluster goes from 1-7 and then 8th i get the dreaded gear symbol. This does not affect drivability at all its just an error message. help me turn this off. Thank you all. |

Little update:
I’ve ironed out most of the kinks with the swap. I’ve got the cantcu sitting nicely in the glovebox and retrofitted an e9x m3 shifter/center console. With Kenneth’s help, we’ve got the drive logic button to toggle 8hp drive modes. Still dealing with the torque limit issue. I hit them much less frequently on the MHD 2.xx beta maps in comparison to the e series maps. Next step will be to get a custom tune to eliminate the limiters once and for all. Debating on if I will wire up the ATC300 to the CANTCU for xdrive control…not too much info out on that at this point. |

How did you get the drive logic button to change drive modes? I finished my 8HP swap in March and never hooked up my Sport button on the DCT trim. Part of the issue is I have an E84 LCI shifter under DCT trim/boot/knob. So the factory wiring for the shifter button is not there.
I am super happy with the swap so far. It looks and drives completely factory. I did a diff swap to a 3.08 so my highway RPM is way down. |
