never understood why our cars are any different than tractors (tractor trailers). I do the 50k interval and use 45 qts., and it's worked for me. Takes a long time to pour it all in by hand.

The older cars did not have the 1yr and 10K hard limits, that was a running change to the computer algorithm. And of course, my car will show a zillion miles left on the oil life monitor right up until it says it's time to change it. So I do it more-or-less annually, but I'm not anal about it. In fact, I'm going to do it this weekend, and it has been about 16 months since the last change. And maaaybe 4K. One big reason being that since I took delivery in October, that is the one year marker, and by October the car is sleeping in the garage in Maine and I am in Florida driving my GTI.

mine is a 07, somewhere along the line when the software was updated, the interval moved to 2 yrs/15k, from 1yr. I know BMW had an issue with the low mile oil changes under free maintenance, there was a brief time where they said anyone who went < 6000 in 1 yr, did NOT get a free oil change under maintenance, they had to wait until 15k.
Some people said so 5,999.9 no change, wait until 15k, 6,000.1, free change, how does this make any sense at all? BMW redacted, then came up with 2 yr. |
