Brawn Appeal verdict
I though we would know tonight but it appears no info. until tomorrow.
I hope there is no penalty and we just get back to racing at the weekend. I thought there was issues with Toyota and Red Bull as well?? why are they not part of the appeal process.

IT's not just BrawnGP under the microscope, but the media being the lazy feckers they are, just mention the guys who are in the lime-light
From F1.com: The FIA’s International Court of Appeal meets in Paris on Tuesday to consider the legality of the diffusers used by the Brawn, Toyota and Williams teams at the first two Grands Prix of 2009. Whatever the outcome, the Court’s decision is likely to have a huge impact on this year’s title chase. The revised technical regulations for 2009, designed to cut downforce, specify a much smaller rear diffuser. Brawn, Toyota and Williams have interpreted the rules differently to their rivals and have adapted other areas of bodywork to effectively enlarge their diffusers. Stewards at both the season-opening Australian Grand Prix and the second round in Malaysia declared the ‘double-decker’ designs, which use bodywork openings to feed them more air, legal. However, BMW Sauber, Ferrari, Red Bull and Renault have all appealed the stewards’ findings, questioning whether the diffusers adhere to the wording and spirit of the regulations. Should the Court agree with them, it could in theory strip Brawn, Toyota and Williams of their points from Melbourne and Sepang, which would dramatically alter the face of the championship table. Alternatively, it could insist they change their diffusers for a more ‘conventional’ design. If the Court deems the diffusers legal, then it will leave the other seven teams on the grid playing catch-up. Many have already begun development of similar diffuser designs - thought to be worth as much as half a second per lap - which, if required, could be introduced as early as the Bahrain Grand Prix later this month. A decision is expected from the Court on Wednesday afternoon. Lets hope they just say "you guys found a loop-hole in the rules... WELL DONE... the rest of you try and catchup !" |

Typical Ferrari spoilt kid attitude...
Great result... now lets see how quickly the other teams develop with a new diffuser. |

Lovely to see the old guard not winning their appeal.
Well done to those who found and exploited the loophole - thats why they are there!

I'd be surprised if they don't already have them sat there and ready to go, just as Brawn would have had a non-contraversial diffuser ready, had they lost.

To be honest, given how so many people think Ferrari and the FIA are one and the same, it wouldn't surprise me if the verdict was, rightly or wrongly, purposefully made against Ferrari just so that the appear to have lost one appeal - it then stops people banging on about how Ferrari always win etc - it restores peoples idea of balance to the decision making process.
I think its outrageous that these sorts of things are being discussed 2races into a, what, 17 race calendar? Given the amount of money involved you would have thought that, come season start, everybody would know where they stand so then fans can concentrate on the racing (such as it is) not have to wait until almost race 3 to determine if the results of races 1 and 2 count. It's like Man U beating Chelsea, winning the league, then finding out the ball was the wrong size, so the game is null and void. (Excuse the poor analogy, I think I'm the only hetro male in England that can't stand football). Sort yourselves out F1!!!! It's this sort of b*llocks that turns people off. What with appeals and rules changing, then not changing, then definitely changing next year, teams going bust etc, as a spectator the racing is secondary to all the other cobblers that surrounds it. Give me touring cars any day of the week.

I'm not quiet - Glad for the sport - It needed that decision - It'll all be null and void soon as they all will have that step down diffuser.
I would have course been quietly happy if they had been banned But then again - I am a Ferrari Supporter

I take my hat off to you Paul! At least YOU are proud to be a Ferrari supporter, unlike some on here who only support Ferrari on a part-time basis when they win
