Hahaha my friend you are such in luck if you have something in that list missing. Go check the CanadianTire flyer for this week.

1) You have these Stanley Kits (pretty good quality) will all the sockets, joints, extension you could possibly need that are at a good special price.

2) The Dewalt's Torque Wrench are also on special. The 1/2" 50-250 Ib-ft as well as the 3/8" 20-100 Ib-ft.

3) There is a nice set of ratchet wrenches in metric that is from Mastercraft (I hate Mastercraft), but I think that it is the Maximum Line, so they are way sturdier and durable then normal Mastercraft products. I also think they might have lifetime warranty, but really not sure about that.

I would send you a link to the flyer, but I am not sure I am allowed to do this because of the forum rules, but defenetly go give it a look. Litteraly all you need is on special. And if you don't get it this week, these kind of parts go on special quite often.

E90 N55
I will sell u all the tools I purchased since I may end up having my BMW Dealership do my gasket. I have all the e10 tools (you need an e10 socket and a e10 box wrench) , oil cap removal wrench, socket extensions and a swivel adapter to reach the bolt under the intake.

After reading this thread I rather give bmw $1400 instead of not having a car.

delmarco As for the metal railing that you mentionned, it really doesn't ring a bell and I am an xDrive owner. All I had to do was remove air filter and the box with it as well as the scoops right over the grills. I then removed coolant line before even touching OFHG so it minimizes spills and contamination chances. Then I loosened the intake manifold bolt and started working on the OFGH 3 torx bolts.
.
Here is the metal line I am talking about. I just saw it when doing my belts a few weekends ago.

You see it from the 4:30 mark in my DIY video below

OOoh that hahaha. Sure it does make your life a bit easier for that bolt, but getting that part out of the way takes some more time and just isn't worth it.

+1 on Stanley.

This is the one I got https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/s...9285p.html#srp about 5 years ago.

The best thing is if you lose a socket or break something you contact stanley and they send you replacement parts for free and they're here in 2 days.

Not worth it considering the extremely low risk and basic post-install precautionary procedure.

I’m here left confused as to whether to move ahead and DIY with oil/fuel priming technique, pay $400 at a local shop but tell them to prime the oil (which I’m sure they would look at me like I’m mad) or just pay to have the dealership do it.

I know a lot of you believe it is less than 10% of all e9x n55 engines that will have this post ofhg seizure issue but they grounded every single 737 Max Boeing plane (almost 400 airliners) last week because two Max 8 planes, took a mysterious nosedive in the last 6 months.

Yes you will. I was just letting you know what is on special. If you have Amazon Prime, you should also consider looking at the collection of Torque Wrenches they have there. I know the Tekton ones have pretty good rep and I have seen some 10 Ib-ft.

No need to prime. Changing the OFHG removes barely any more oil from the oil circuit than an oil filter change. When the car is shut off, the oil drains out of the OFH back into the motor, only a couple Tbsp remain. If you're worried, pour some oil back into the OFH after it's all put back together.

No, the priming mentioned in this thread is the disabling of fuel/spark and cranking the engine over with the starter to get the oil pump to move oil.

Well, if you actually read the SIB.

There is no SIB for Oil Priming after an OFHG.

From what I understand BMWs response to N55 engine seizures was for shops to reference the Oil Priming SIB which are generic oil priming instructions.
Apparently someone noted that BMW Service Departments always prime the oil systems after EVERY oil change and every oil gasket work.

This is why I think no one can find any N55 Oil Priming After OFHG SIBs or addendum to the original OFHG SIB for priming oil after.

IDK

Yeah there isn't one specifically for OFHG change but BMW says to techs to do it that way they know if the tech did priming as it will throw a code. And if the engine fails without the code they can blame the tech, if it fails with code then it's easy warranty replacement, which is what I've been told.

Apparently it is also 11 09 15 for the number.

I prime, i.e. fill, the oil filter and housing every oil change. I pour at least 1 quart of oil into the oil filter to saturate the pleats and fill the housing as much as possible before I install the oil filter cap. I do this with every oil change. I did the same when I replaced the oil filter housing gasket on my N54, but I also did an oil change at the same time and I personally wouldn't do the OFHG replacement without changing the oil at the same time. Due to known issues with the N55 and OFHG replacements, it is probably a good idea to also pull the spark plugs and disable the fuel injectors and spin the engine over a few seconds to actually pump some oil through the system and remove any air pockets prior to starting the engine up. It costs nothing but a few minutes of your time to do this.
