Finally made the 600 club!

Hello everyone!

Well, after about 3 years of wanting this, I'm finally about to get Pure stage 2 High Flow turbos, and I'm super excited. This kind of big power build is exactly why i insisted on getting an AWD 335Xi and in fact, it's what attracted me to the platform after years of performance cars with no traction (ahem, mustang).

I wanted to start a thread and keep it updated through the build. Cedar Performance in Dallas, tx is doing the work and has been a HUGE help in the advice, planning, and all that.

We ordered the turbos a little over a week ago, and I'm hoping they get here this week. I'm currently FBO and dyno's around 370hp and about 425s of torque. I also have an NLS which was a nice addition and super cool to use under full throttle.

I originally wanted to do a meth kit at the same time, but decided to wait because I wanted to get used to the car and see what it was like after the big upgrade but before meth, and I'll dyno it without it too.

I"m also going with the spec steel flywheel and stage 3+.

I went with the high flows at Cedar's recommendation mainly to future proof the setup. I have 85k, and when the motor eventually goes (hopefully at least 200k miles and hopefully many more) at that time I'll get a built motor.

Anyone else decide to go with the Hifh Flows?

I'm thinking about Pure Turbos also....What fueling setup are you going to have...interested to see how your project goes...

Congrats. How much power do you expect to make? Have you driven a car with spec 3 clutch? Chatter chatter chatter. Your going to loose some drive ability compared to stock. Just something to be aware of. Wondering if there are better options. Also with all that extra power do you have to do anything to the AWD setup to make it withstand the extra power? Do you have to upgrade the transaxle or anything.

I got these same turbos from Pure. I've been really happy with them. If you didn't upgrade your LPFP, then I highly recommend you do.

Hi guys ,

Thanks, I'm very excited. I went with Pure based on research online and recommendation of Cedar

Id be happy with at least 500awhp. Anything above is just extra. Meth will be within a year...

I've watched YouTube vids of the clutch and it doesn't seem to bad. MHD has a check box for raising the idle just a bit to help with that.

For fueling I'm going wirh Fuel it stage 2 bucket less based on research and guidance from Cedar Performance. They're going to do a tune, also getting JB4 I wanna be able to switch maps in the fly...

There are setups with much more power than this and stock AWD. I do think I'm going to have all the fluids changed including transmission, they are recommending Liqui Moly.

Yeah from what I've read both the manual transmission and AWD can take quite a bit of power and torque. Plus, with the NLS module I can do a two step and wirh the JB4 Limit boost by gear to maximize launch effectiveness without breaking things...

It's funny because cars that are 100k+ like 911 and GTR have features like launch control that we can add wirh a 300 upgrade

I personally only recommend the bucketless if you get the upgraded filter as there is potential for fuel starvation if you are low on gas since it's bucketless.

The upgraded filter has more surface area and picks up on the side.

My .02

Also, many people don't realize there isn't much need to switch maps on the fly so much.

Do you have any particular reason you'd see yourself changing maps?

Yeah the guy at fuel-it recommended that too... thanks for the info, I didn't post an exhaustive list of every item we're planning on putting in

Yes, switching is a bit of a pain and always makes me nervous lol. I often drive to other towns and such where there is no 93 available and I just don't like having to switch maps, I'm always nervous the battery will die or something, the least I do flashing the better. maybe I'm paranoid But would just be super nice to be able to switch between different maps and such.

?
Nowadays, flashes only take 2 minutes and the latest MHD maps don't even run the fuel pump (which was the biggest draw).

If your battery is going dead after 2 minutes, you have bigger issues

It's not... as stated, it's more of a conveneince, along with the other nice things the jb4 adds. I don't like flashing the car. My batter is fine though. would much rather click a button and have it instantly change.

what turbo install kit are people going with? ....seems like they are all somewhat different. best one price wise seems to be the RB turbo install kit which is listed on their site at $200. Does this include everything that the Pure install kit includes?

I talked to Rob over emails and he was very helpful and nice. I was planning on doing RB's. I did hear of a few failures but it was early on.

The reason I went with Pure Turbos, honestly, was not only did alot of people like them but mainly it was because the place I ran across in town had cores on hand so I didn't have to mess with sending in the old ones to get a rebate and such. Plus, the PUre's were capable of more HP and future proof, I went with the High Flows. I actually had bad customer experience across emails with Pure, but Cedar Performance who is helping me with the work is the one dealing with them so I didn't have to worry about that part; it was more turn-key.

i was referring to the Install Kit (gaskets etc) that people have been getting. seems like they are all a bit different between ECS, RB, PURE, VARGAS etc...
I have Pure DD's on the way and just wondering what install kit to go with
