Requesting E92 Split Armrest Help
Well I have read the split-install for e90 and was going to write one for e92. However I have an 2008 with the springs on the rod! I have NOT been able to get it to budge at all!
Anyone have some insights for me on how to tackle this?

Try to squeeze the plastic parts together so you have some metal showing on the outside edge and pull VERY hard with a pair of pliers when the tip shows through. Mine were very tight too, but as soon as they started to move, they came out easily.

I know what you mean! When I did this last year I couldn't grab the pin due to my 08 having the spring already fitted. What I did was use a center punch and small hammer to gently tap the pin out from one end. I had to have a second person support the plastic tab as I tapped as I was worried I could crack or damage it.
It was frustrating as hell for me, especially after reading the DIY on here and thinking it would be a 5 minute job! Anyway, take your time and have plenty of patience and the pin will slowly push out. Refitting the pin was pretty easy, it is a little tricky getting the spring latched though, again have patience, it's well worth it! |

Wrickem,
I will definitely try that because everything i try to hammer the rod out, the plastic pieces starts to seperate however the rod isnt' really moving. Thanks. IRL, Thanks! A Center punch might be what I needed to complete this job. That's a new tool to me. And just to make sure, the spring isn't really holding down the rod right? I still have my springs and will jump directly into trying to remove the rods. Thank you very much for your advices

The spring is just sitting on the rod, it's not holding anything in. If you use a center punch as suggested above, still squeeze the plastic tabs it goes through do they don't break. I was worried I'd break the outside ones off but it worked out perfectly. Good luck!
