Anyone with the NGK 5992 have idle stumble/misfire?

Was just wondering if anyone with the NGK 5992 colder plug has issues with rough idle and low throttle/low load misfiring.

Thanks

I just installed a set tonight in my car. I went out around the block and did a few WOT pulls. Might have only like 10 miles on them but so far the car idles fine and no issues with acceleration. Are you sure you gapped them properly?

Have them stage 3 car and mikes stage 2, never a single problem. Gap is critical

+1

Will be getting these installed next week. haha, 37k miles still on the ordinal plugs

Notes from a reputable tuner

Quote:
Thing to note is that these plugs off the shelf come with a larger gap than we can use on the N54 so just direct swapping them in won’t work and the car will stumble/misfire that way. You MUST have them gapped either to the OEM 0.7mm (0.0275″) or, which I’d recommend, to 0.56mm (0.022″) for high boost. The original gap on the NGK 5992 plugs is 0.8mm (0.031″) so make sure to GAP them before installation!

Could someone enlighten me as to the benefits of going a step colder on plugs for cars that aren’t making BIG power? For those of us who are “merely” FBO, are there any benefits? Not knocking any ones choice to use them, I’m genuinely curious as to the rationale behind it.

"Merely FBO" is not as trivial as you put it. the engine still puts out ~150 WHP over stock. That is certainly good cause to go one heat range colder. The general rule of thumb is 1 heat range down for each 100HP more.

Even FBO is +100HP.

I knew they weren’t going to cause any issues assuming proper gap, but I wasn’t aware they’d be useful for a car making FBO power. Thanks for the responses.

They are just one step colder.

The purpose is that the stock spark plugs are made for stock boost and stock pressure and heat.

So going 1 step "colder" on the plugs will lessen the likelihood of detonation. Although there really doesn't seem to be a problem with stock plugs and stock turbo setups.

You can probably google a better answer but that is the jist of it.

I just ordered some Bosch spark plugs http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E92-335...osch/ES257800/ so I guess I really can't go wrong with the choice, since my car has 34,XXX miles on, I'm assuming on the stock plugs.

Like I said unless you are going with upgraded turbo's and you want to lessen the likelihood of detonation from high boost, you dont need them.

We offer Okada Coil Pack Upgrades.

Oh this sucks. I just bought a set of stock plug from the dealership 3 days ago for $220. I haven't put them on yet. I will go check on return policy.

Hope they used a condom!

My NGK's were $70 something with shipping. No issues to report...
