Bavarian Technic and CBS Adjusting

Got about 6k left in pre-50k warranty. Car is CPO but looking for BMW to pick-up the tab on brake rotor & pad replacement.

BT says that I have 28% remaining on brake pads -- why would I not simply adjust the % and take it in?????

Will the BT tool let you adjust the life remaining?

And will it prevent the tech from physically measuring the pads?

Well I did the adjustment with the oil life last night in order to get a free oil change today. It worked just fine. I am picking up my car at 5:00 pm and I will post a DIY.

No more getting denied for free annual oil change for me!

Well, ah, the brake pad wear sensor is the real determining factor to justify BMW replacing the brake pads. The CBS reading of 28% remaining is just an estimate. Why don't you just take the pads out (with the sensor attached) take them over to your high school wood shop class and sand down the pads on the belt sander until they are below minimum thickness spec, put them back in the calipers and take it to the dealer to have them give you free brakes...

I suggest a 180-grit sanding belt so the pads don't look like they were taken out, sanded down on a belt sander, and then re-installed.
