First off I just want to say that the guys at BMS are great. I ordered the JB4 on Wednesday and it got here on the east coast Friday. Their customer service seems to be second to none. I have sent 3 emails regarding the product and each time they were answered within an hour.

Now for the install. It took me about an hour and fifteen mins the first time. That was because I was being extra careful. After all that I realized that I forgot to install the USB cable I went back in to do it today and I had the cable installed and the car buttoned backed up in under 15 minutes. The hardest part of the install for me was figuring out how to get the OEM sub connectors to slide out of the ecu connectors. Once I figured out which tab to push though, it was easy.

All I can say is holy shit it's fast. Set it to map 5 and did a few pulls. It pulled harder every time. I broke the wheels loose twice at stop lights by accident! DCI should be delivered today!!

Tune easily has the most significant impact on your car performance wise, after that prob meth. If you love the car now, wait until you get the DCI in -- You'll never use your radio again. The sound of the turbos spooling is addictive.

Don't forget downpipes. They make a substantial difference as well.. Not as much as the JB4 and meth but a close third in my book.

+1, DPs def enhance any tune that little extra by helping the turbos spool faster and killing any lag that might of existed from increasing the boost. PLUS it also gives the car a little more brutal growl

Much of the people here dont know what they are doing. Trust me get a Intercooler and an oil catch can as soon as you can fallow that with downpipes if you still think you need more power.

Huh? Is that a fact? I agree that an intercooler is beneficial, but 100% required first?

I would argue that an intercooler is most beneficial to those who spend time on track or drag race and need better cooling for long boost pulls. On the street, you cannot boost that hard and that long without risking jail time. I would also argue that TIRES are just as important as any other mod. My brand of choice is Michelin Pilot Super Sports. Hook that extra 70-80HP up and accelerate faster than spinning crappy "performance" wannabe tires. Also brake and corner better, which you'll need once you see that you're in triple digit speeds faster than most cars could ever think of just 5 years ago.

Yeah, Im not sure. I drove it pretty hard yesterday on map 5 with stock cooling and intake (DCI goes in today) with 90 degree temps and the car never got above 240.

Remember that gauge is the oil temp, not the coolant temp. You will need to unlock the cluster to view actual water temp (every time you start the car) or get something like a Rixster gauge that accesses the CAN bus to see more engine data. The ECU regulates the water pump speed and fan speed to ensure the engine doesn't overheat. Don't concern yourself with the actual temps unless you're drag racing (times suffer once the motor heats up) or doing track events where the stock cooling system can't handle all that extra power.

Depending on how you use the car, your upgrade path will differ slightly versus others. Talking with an experienced salesperson who isn't interested in just getting all your money (yes, those people DO exist), will get you the performance you're looking for within your budget. Jeff at Topgearsolutions has a great reputation here and lots of different parts available, and he's all over this forum.

Thanks for the help. So I put in the DCI today, and wow the sound is great at WOT!!! I took it out warmed it up and did a few pulls. I then convineiently found a few errands to run. On the way there an M3 came up on me and gave me the rev. I know, talk about timing. I mashed it for about 5 seconds until I realized I blew by a cop at about 95 Luckily he was in an unmarked car and did not seem interested in me. Anyway I slowed down the M passed me laughing hysterically and gave me the thumbs up.


When I got back home I checked the codes. I got 2AAF, fuel pump plausibility. I know it is new because I had no codes yesterday. After doing some searching I understand that this may be pretty normal with a tune, and unless there are other codes or symptoms, I should just ignore it. Does that sound right?

Whoa! Sounds like you got incredibly lucky w/ that cop!

Yes, 2AAF comes and goes on lots of different cars with or without a tune. It has to do with the low pressure fuel pump actual speed versus specified speed. If there are no low pressure fuel system codes other than 2AAF, then it can safely be ignored unless there are other driveability problems.
