Hahaha. Banished one's D is the "model" testing out the prototype exhaust.

Notice how the hanger off the back of the transmission is still being used. The design has two little shelfs that the OEM black rubber foot bolts to. My shop couldn't do this. They used a standard hangar wended to the pipe and screwed it to the transmission cross member. This detail is very OEM. Kudos

I would agree with fsd350 if it would be possible, i would like just to replace a midpipe with catalytic converter and keep the stock mufflers. It should be cheaper, and why would i replace what is working as i need it.

By midpipe i mean http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=18_0815

And more than that, people here are asking for louder systems, i would want to keep my car as quiet as possible, even more than that, if it would be possible to have, i would replace this small resonator with something bigger to keep some sound inside Should be not that hard to do, as it is a separate piece.

iaknown You are doing great job, these thoughts this is just something i wanted to share, so you would now other sales points.

The problem is the converter section is oval and would be difficult to just replace that piece

But they exist, something like this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/131437437385 or maybe better quality.

Or even maybe better solution to have this one in the center, and two pipes to go to each rear muffler.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/191636100259

Anyway maybe the resonator works as well, i am not a pro, it is just my thoughts.

I am always trying to keep my car quiet and fast.

The pipe is oval, you can't just mate up a standard piece of pipe.

Look at the RealOEM diagram, see how it looks squished?

Oh, i meant to use pipes what iaknown is doing, just to have a bigger central muffler option.

The OEM ones is not possible to match, so only open and take the stuff out of it.

That exhaust system looks mighty nice. What are the performance gains/losses (looking for a dynochart) from it and how much of a weight savings is there over the stock exhaust system?

Weight savings would be significant. The stock system is very heavy. Don't have the numbers...

While some might be interested in this option my guess is it would just be a handful. Not worth putting into production to be honest. Plus, as mentioned, we are looking at non-standard components to make it happen

As mentioned, the weight savings alone will be a big improvement. I'm sure we can get some weight figures in the near future.

As far as performance gains, I doubt they will be anything worth mentioning if we ever get a dyno comparison (which most likely won't happen). But with a clogged SCR, which is inevitable with any sort of tune, there will definitely be an improvement

Iaknown has been working on this exhaust development for over a half year if not closer to a year. The fabrication people are working up the production details since the proto is done. I would expect we need to afford him respect and patience. Typing or not isn't going to speed the process that he is waiting for. Out
