Nicely equipped.

I'm looking to cut some metal off of the inner rear fender on my e90-right where the bumper meets the fender.

Anyone have any experience with this and possibly lend a helping hand? Maybe get a few cars together and we can all do some modding, installs, maintenance, and other wrenching

Anyone interested?

You mean the "inner lip" of the fender well on the rear side? You could do that with a cutting wheel on a grinder with a very steady hand. I wouldn't try to do it with any kind of saw, though. The sheetmetal is fairly thick, so a "nibbling tool" probably wouldn't work well either.

Yeah it'd be with a grinder or a dremel. And the inner area right where the bumper and fender meet. With spacers in the rear I'm rubbing like a btch

Yeah, I figured that's what it was. Unfortunately, I don't have anything larger than a Dremel tool, although maybe that's better suited? I used it with some small cutting wheels to alter my right front fender liner to clear the shrouding on my ER oil cooler on my E92, and it cut the plastic very nicely. The wheels are for metal cutting, though, and they might do the job.

i think a dremel would be perfect because it's such a small area that i need to trim. i need to coat that exposed metal with something to prevent rusting too-then finish it off with some touch up paint.

any suggestions on what to lay down on the exposed metal before i put the touch up paint on?

A good automotive finish primer should do the trick. Back in the day, we used zinc chromate, kind of a greenish-yellow stuff, that really prevented corrosion. But I'd look at either an auto parts store or see if a good body shop will sell you a small amount of whatever they use. They might just give you a little bottle of the stuff or tell you where to buy some.

FYI - BMW CCA Tejas Chapter's annual Bluebonnet drive is set for Saturday, March 23, and will leave from the "Y" in Oak Hill (Southwest Austin) where 290 and 71 meet. Those of us from the SA area who would like to participate but don't want to drive all the way to Austin can join up with a group of us who will be meeting at the Courthouse square in Blanco that morning at 8:30AM. We'll have breakfast at a local cafe and depart at 9:30AM sharp to meet the "Northern" contingent at a point in Pedernales State Park (about a 30-minute ride from Blanco). If you're up for a great drive that will wind through the Willow City Loop where we hope there will be abundant Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush and end with lunch at Hondo's in Fredericksburg, feel free to contact me and we'll look for you in Blanco! You don't have to be a CCA member to attend, but this could be a good way to meet the members and see how we roll. You can also get more details about this and other planned events at http://www.tejaschapter.org

Hey just picked up a 335i not to long ago, and pretty sure my waste gate is bad. I have the rattle. I need to take it in, but not sure if my car has been chipped or not. Anyone know if there is someone who can check for me? Or an SA that would be cool just in case it is? Oh and I would just check the ecu myself, but frankly I just don't have the time!

^I agree...been pretty busy the past few weekends. Tomorrow could work, though - suggestions as to where? I've got to head over to San Marcos on Sunday, and the BMW CCA event is next Saturday, and then Coffee and Rides is on the following Saturday (3/30).

The rattle from waste gate is a common issue. Do you have any mods on the car?
