"Frozen" trunk cylinder
Anyone know how to work loose a key cylinder that has stopped working. I think it's the roadsalt.

Your trying to open the truck with the key???
Is it actually frozen with ice, or just caked with salt? If it frozen with ice, some IPA (rubbing alchol) will work, and they even sell it here in the states in small bottles that squirt into the lock. If it's just salt and the temperature is above freezing, water will help. Then I would squirt something like WD40 into the lock to displace all of the water so it doesn't freeze up again. Don't know if that is available in Germany.

It's above freezing now and it still doesn't work, I think the road salt has just worked it's way into the cylinder...
Salt is used VERY liberally here in Germany. I'd hate to have to go to a mechanic and pay crazy EUROs for a simple job I could do myself. It's my hooptie NEON (2001) |
