i dont have issues now - just that if these issues come up in the future, it will be good to have bought the extended warranty

I think it really depends on what engine you have. The N52s are usually okay. I'd be more worried about the N54s.
I bought mine for the hell of it when I came off my 3 yr lease. Well, mainly b/c my dealer gave me a $500 discount. I think I ended up paying $2000 or less for a 4 yr extended warranty/80k. (I only had 29k on my car at that time, and I don't even have 50k now). There are lots of options depending on the current mileage on your car, so you can't really gauge from getting our opinions on the pricing. The biggest difference of getting it before your warranty expires or not is that you save the certification fee from BMW, which is like $200 or something? Not sure. And of course, if you have lower mileage right now because they have cut offs for each mileage range (I don't remember the cuts though). If you want to buy the warranty later, it is also fine, but you need your car certified from BMW before purchasing it. But, if you have over 100k and running an N54, I'd probably buy it. Just get the one with $200 deductible to cover anything big. I'd recommend a quick drop in to your local dealer and see the used car business manager. |

With the 335 engine (turbo), best to get it.
Although a different car, my old A4 had 3 coolant leaks, 2 vacuum hose leak, fuel pump issues magically appear in year 5. The extended warranty should cover towing as well.

Should've bought a warrenty...
Repairs thus far: Failed starter (had a tow) Failed waterpump, and the associated failed thermostat (had a tow) Failed door lock actuator (blew several fuses) Leaking transmission pan Broken rear wheel bearing Rear window seal coming lose (only item under warrenty) Non-related, wear and tear items: Various Suspension bushings (probably due to my previous coilover installation) Something that maybe breaking: Steering lock mechanism (may require replacement of entire steering rack) Auto fold mirror (the mirror would point to the ground and doesn't stop at the correct position) Engine ticking noise (not going away even with a injector cleaning) A lot of these are common on pre-LCI models apparently... so, be prepared. I have 130k km right now.

I have it, got it with my cpo 2009 car.
It's peace of mind and because I do a lot of driving per week. Got it at 35k and 6 months later I'm at 48k already So I think it's a good purchase to start off with considering the various reliability issues...(335i etc) |

I ask because in the former case it depends on one's relationship with the dealer (to a degree) and in the latter - well, then one's just screwed.

Would the extended warranties include things like all control units, gaskets, and seals? I know there are many loop holes in these extended warranties that don't cover what the typical 4/80,000 one does when you buy the car.

Got it for a bit cheaper than my original quote.
Mine is up tomorrow so I just came back from Parkview BMW here in Toronto with a new 3year/80,000km deal. I bought my 2009 335D last August with only 3,800 kms on it. I'm currently at 19,800 kms. Plan on having the car for awhile so it makes sense to me. |

Does anyone know what they do in Quebec? My dealer doesn't want to sell me an extende warranty. Can I buy a third party one and keep going to them (as I've established a good relationship) or must I switch to another dealer who WOULD sell me a warranty?

I got a 3rd party warranty from Lubrico. I got it at cost so it was a good deal. Anyways I will be going in for
-valve cover gasket -oil filter gasket -boost leak All of which are covered under warranty which I paid $600 for. My 335i was a 1owner lease return with 71,4XX KMs |

So I just end up pulling a trigger on the extended warranty when I renewed my financing.
Looks like its no longer Coverage One. Its "i-Select Coverage" the thing that sucks is that in between my warranty expired and I had problem with the Water Pump! So I had to pay for that! Its about an extra $5k till 2018 (200k) I'm at 123k now. Peace of mind helps! I said I have an intake and will lower the car soon they said its ok but will not replace it when something happens.
