This is a track dedicated car with a price close to M3, but with much better performances!
Alpina has done a great job, as always!

Why the M3 is effectively an auto as well. the Alpina can be used as manual and provide 100 millisecond upshifts under full load, and holds set gear regardless to rev as per manual box.

I bet the Alpina can change gear faster than you!

Do they have homemade DSG or double cluth trans ? The controls are similar to cars equipped with the more mundane ZF trans.

Your right the m3 isnt either... but thats a DCT isnt it? which in my view makes up for it!
if the alpina has a DCT g'box then that would be the best of both worlds
Did you know that they only made a manual M5 for the US... Europeans are all changing to double-clutch or fast automatic cars...

No, the B3 GT3 did not beat the M3 GTS in a straight line.

I think automatic cars have evolved from slow grandpa cars to fast sporty cars...

The first double-clutch cars have initiated a new way of thinking...

Nice. Not so keen on that green interior, but it's still a nice car.

It's exactly the same AT as in a normal 335i. Only the transmission software has been tweaked by ZF in order to provide faster shifting times and complete manual control (i.e. no automatical upshifting).

Came across this old thread and I just like to say that let's not forget that both of these cars are running much stickier tires (Michelin Sport Cup) than the standard M3, which came with Pilot PS2s.

Tires are one of the biggest factors in changing a car's performance. I think it would be more fair to compare the standard M3 with sport cups against these two if you're going to compare their performance differences.
