BMW 320D E90 - Wont start after installing swirl flaps
Hi all,
Following the help with my previously damaged DDE I turn to you all again. Having installed a new DDE my car has been working great, however I decided to take on the swirl flap delete all went well, I cleaned the EGR & intake manifold & reinstalled including all connectors (have since checked these twice again) but the car will not start?!?!? All connections are in, vaccum lines on, gaskets in place , I really dont understand whats causing it?!? Any help?? Thanks |

Battery negative was disconnected when I started the strip down, during the job I removed the posotive battery cable that bridges over the top of the engine to gain access but all of this is now reinstalled. Thanks

Hi guys, any help with this? Getting quite desperate now, when cranking its an odd. A very light pressure gentle crank as opposed to the normal cold deep crank??
Any thoughts?? Thanks |

I would normally say "some random connector" but I've been there and believe you when you say you checked them twice now ... did that include the positive battery terminal thing? It's pretty complex so I wonder if it's possible to not reinstall properly.
What exactly does it do when you try to start it? Does everything work like it should in the accessory position?

No 320's for e90 series here in the USA in any type of 4 cylinder knowledge on
those engines is almost non existent here for that chassis. 95 percent US 6 cylinder owner's here. Check UK subforum. Battery is always the first thing to check on these. |

Ok guys, so today I removed the inlet manifold once again and again reinstalled checking all connectors etc...again...nothing. car turns over but refuses to fire ??? Also the engine cranking "sound" is different?? Just sounds like the starter motor turning the engine and not even trying to fire any diesel??
Thoughts? HELP?? |

Thanks for getting back to me, I did indeed clean the intake ports & some did fall down but I did make a hoover "adapter" to go down the port & I was careful to clean out the port but perhaps some has indeed become wedged. Any thoughts on how to remove said Carbon??

The car is a manual 320d.
The car sounds as if it is turning over with zero resistance, so no compression?? ....the starter now clicks as apposed to turning over so perhaps a bad starter?? |

Starters are usually pretty robust on the diesels. How old is the battery and is it fully charged? Do you have a good battery charger? You may have discharged it now with all the cranking. Can you post a video of it cranking over?

Hi guys, just an update to anyone in the future who may read this post. This issue turned out to be few issues.
1. Faulty (tired out) starter 2. Tired Battery Once all the above were replaced the car fired straight up |
