The car was in excellent condition w/85k miles and came with Nav, the Sport & Premium Packages and the PPK Stage 1 flash and really didn't "need" much. Here's the list of stuff that I've done to and/or purchased for the car:

1) Cobb Accessport V3 purchased and Stage 1+ FMIC Sport map installed
2) Mishimoto intercooler installed
3) K&N filter purchased & installed
4) ExhaustMeister (a golf tee mod simulator) installed
5) OEM alarm kit installed and programmed
6) New windshield installed (all but $100 covered by insurance)
7) WeatherTech floor and trunk liners installed
8) 4 front jack pads purchased & 2 damaged jack pads replaced
9) 4 jack pad adapters purchased; for example
10) Driver's side front edge hood trim replaced; original was peeling
11) 2 missing rubber hood cushions installed in engine compartment
12) 4 tire valve caps w/BMW logo purchased & installed
13) Wooden shift knob w/silver center trim purchased & installed
14) BMW Black Sapphire Metallic touch up paint kit purchased
15) BMW first aid kit purchased & placed in trunk
16) BMW sunroof allen wrench purchased & placed in toolkit

Total cost for all of these things was around $2.5k. Not the most or least that I've ever spent fixing up a car. The only thing left to do is to take the front wheels to a local tire shop to polish out some minor curb rash, which they'll do for $50 each.

I wanted to keep any performance mods as inconspicuous as possible on this car. So, I've ruled out installing a dual cone intake or an aftermarket exhaust. I've also ruled out a LSD and any other suspension/handling mods because I think the car handles well enough as it is for the type of driving that I do.

The only other thing that I plan to purchase is a spare tire kit (including a jack and other tire changing accessories) when I replace the BFG Goodrich RFTs currently on the car with non-RFT Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, which may not happen for another year or so.

Nice list but you will never be all done until you sell the car

Oh, it's definitely ALL DONE now as far as I'm concerned!

It may be hard to believe but I'm quite happy with the way the car is now. When I 1st started this project, there were all of these things that I wanted to do to make the car look, handle and "go" better.

Well, the car now looks GREAT to me, handles more than well enough for the type of driving that I do and is scary FAST!!! So, there's no need to do any more, except for ordinary maintenance and required repairs and that's all I'm planning to do to the car from now on.

The car is SO nice now, that it's almost TOO NICE to drive. I'm already finding excuses to drive one of my other vehicles and am just dusting and ogling the car in the garage instead.

Trim Vinyl Wrap

All Done!!! . . . famous last words.

Saw Don Nguyen's post saying he'd be in NorCal to do some vinyl wrapping in SJ. The trim on my E90 was scratched up. So, arranged to have Don vinyl wrap the trim for me today. Here's the result:

There are a few bubbles in the vinyl, which should go away w/time, and I had to smooth down the edges on some of the corners, but it looks pretty good to me.

Going to replace the clear/white side markers with smoked/black markers to give the sides a completely blacked out look; still have contrast w/the wheels. Am thinking about getting the black hood trim/grill too but not sure about that yet. Not a big fan of the completely blacked out look -- like a little contrast here and there -- but ordered the matte black grill/hood trim kit to see whether I like it or not. Only cost $55 to do that and can resell it for some $ back if I really don't like it.

Took the LONG way around on the drive back home from SJ -- 150 miles via 101/152/I-5 and the car is running really well. Solid as a rock w/now 92k miles on the clock. Love the car's high speed passing ability. Quickly goes from 70-80 to 110-120 to pass other cars in a flash. Motorcycle FAST!

Very, very cool!!!!

How much did the vinyl install by Don set you back? Your E-candy is turning out very nicely. Here's a pic of mine looking its best... Many of the same mods done.

$140 (plus $40 gas to/from SJ). Took him a little less than an hour to do.

Thanks! Yours is looking nice too, but I think you need to black out that trim. LOL!

Smoked Side Markers and Matte Black Trim & Grill

Installed the Depo smoked fender side marker/turn signal lights and matte black hood trim & kidney grills that I got from eBay on my Black Sapphire E90 today.

Also thinking about getting an M3 Replica Front Bumper w/Foglights and a pair of DEPO Projector90 W/ LED Angel Eyes Headlights here:

http://www.khoalty.com/bmw-e90-e92-m3-front-bumper.html
http://www.khoalty.com/bmw-e90-depo-...eadlights.html

But that would cost about $1k for the parts and another $500 for painting/labor. So, I'm not in any hurry to do it.

Also just passed on a HKS/OEM exhaust swap for $1k w/another E90 member; mine is the OEM exhaust. Was thinking about buying the HKS exhaust when I got my E90 but decided it wasn't worth $2k. After checking out the HKS exhaust on the other E90, decided against the swap because: 1) I'm happy w/the open flap sound that I get w/the Exhaustmeister, 2) really don't want to make the car any louder and 3) there's no significant performance gain w/the HKS to justify the additional noise w/my basically sock setup.

However, the same guy has a front M3 swap bar and control arms that he is planning to sell and I'll probably buy those and install them along w/a pair of Eibach front sport springs to firm up the front suspension because the FSDs alone don't seem enough.

Thanks!

Still have to post pics w/the matte black hood trim/grille and smoked fender markers. Tried to take some yesterday but the markers didn't look very "smoked" in them; not sure why.

Update 09/16/14: Here are a couple of pics w/the new parts as installed:

Not convinced about the look of the black hood trim/grille. Will leave them on for now but thinking that I'll probably go back to chrome and will sell them, if I do.

I was thinking about getting k&n filter just because they last forever. What is it like 60k before you have to clean them? That's like 4 years.

I've always used a K&N because you can just clean them when needed and don't have to buy another. No exact mileage schedule for cleaning, but you could do them every 10k miles if you like. I clean them when they "look" dirty. Easy to check when I think it needs inspection.

I know. My next suggestion is move to Florida and say goodbye to state income tax and hello to $3.50 93 premium. That car would look so much better with 20% tint and wheels.

I have solid tint but I like the stock look…keeps things under the radar…a fast "grocery getter" is damn cool.

Repairs & Maintenance

The following are the functional repairs, replacements and basic maintenance items that I've done on the car so far. Everything else mentioned above has been purely EXTRA either in terms of performance or cosmetics.

Replaced OEM Bridgestone RFT tires & wheels w/new Michelin PSS non-RFT tires and replaced the OEM sport shocks w/Koni FSDs at 88k miles. Brake pads were also changed from OEM pads to Akebonos in order to get rid of the brake dust at about the same time. Discs were turned at that time as well. See above.

Replaced all of the spark plugs/coils when a walnut blasting of the intake ports was done at around 89k miles, after developing an engine misfire due to a bad original coil. Also replaced the water reservoir and some reservoir hoses at that time because mechanic noticed that they were broken/fragile. See: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...5#post15657925

Replaced the thermostat/water pump and connecting hose along w/a coolant flush today at 92k miles after having some overheating problems last week. See: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1039052

Also had AC recharged at that time. Only had 1/2lb of freon; needed 1 1/2. Was having problems w/AC taking too long to blow cold on hot days. See: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1024245

Planning to do a transmission fluid change, differential fluid change and oil change at 95k miles. This will complete all the basic maintenance items and the car should be LIKE NEW (and hopefully no other repairs/maintenance (except oil changes) will need to be done for some time) after the trans/diff fluid changes are done.

How many miles are on your car? What did you use for plugs and what compelled you to swap out all of the coils? Thanks.

Currently 92k miles on the car.. Developed a misfire around 89k miles. Changed out all of the plugs/coils and had the intakes walnut blasted at that time.

I ordered Bosch plugs and coils from ECS; one of the new coils was defective and had to get it exchanged. So, one of the original coils is actually still in the car; don't know which. Kept all of the "good" coils that were replaced and have the new replacement in reserve to use in case of another misfire problem.
