CIC day night auto

I found a settings option in the cic that lets me choose between day, night and automatic. But however automatic doens't activate the night mode when its night and headlights are on. Has anyone an idea how to activate the auto function?

regards

Yeah the e9x night mode on the CIC systems has to be manually switched back and forth.. it's stupid and cannot be coded to work with the auto headlights like it does on the f30

If you disable the automatic option using NCSExpert, the menu changes into a toggle switch which you can map to one of the preset keys on the front of the head unit and switch between day and night with one press (go to the menu with the option, highlight it with the iDrive controller, and press and hold whichever preset key you want to use)

Or if you don't want to mess with coding you can just set the preset to go to the menu and switch between them that way.

The reason it doesn't work in the E9x cars is that the CiC CID does not have the light sensor that CCC CID does.

One way around this is to use a CiC CID out of a 5 series. It's the same as the one in the E9x CiC, but it has the light sensor (little pinhole at the bottom of the display) and clear plastic housing also.

What is the setting heading that needs to be changed? Cause after I found micro fractures in my retro CID, I purchased another one and scored one with the light sensor.

I know but that's a ton of effort.. easier to click left and scroll to night mode lol

I think it's NAVI_MAPMODE_AUTOMATIC. Try setting that to nicht_aktiv.

How? That's even more work. With the above suggestion, you are making a shortcut on the head unit's "1,2,3,4,5,6" preset buttons. Set it to one of them, and that is now your toggle for day/night mode. Literally one press after creating the preset/shortcut.

Yeah but I use my presets for other more important things.

I have an M3 and the amount of features it has compared to a regular 3 series is quite lengthy... 3 presets alone are for driving modes, suspension settings, engine dynamics etc.

I have a M3 too, not sure what that has to do with anything. That is what M drive is for, but sure. Do as you please.
