"Engine Malfunction" reduced power

Hi, everyone. I have two issues with the car, which might be related:

1: In the past 6 months or so, immediately after a hard acceleration, after a shift from first to second, I get the standard notification that there is an engine malfunction, and goes into limp mode.

I have only had this happen to be twice. The first time was last March or so. I simply pull over, restart the car, and everything's fine. Any idea what is going on? It's clearly hard to reproduce, so I do not know how I'd be able to get the dealer to look at it (still under warranty).

2: Also, the engine is getting a bit of a rough idle. It's not nearly as rough as other engines I've used, but it's definitely enough that, per cycle of the engine, there is some variation, which you can hear *very* faintly with the occasional popping sound, which vibrates the stickshift. I am not sure if these problems are related.

I sent it to the dealer, and they had the car for about a week, trying to reproduce the idle problem, and they were not able to pinpoint it.

HPFP already had a recall replacement last year. However, the dealer wasn't able to find anything, so how would I be able to convince them that there is a problem, even if it was the HPFP? Moreover, *is* there a problem? Is this just normal behavior?

Alright, I will see if the N54 folk have any knowledge regarding this. I think I posted in the wrong board.

Carbon build up also causes rough idle and misfires. Might want to look into that.

I had the same issue with my car once. The injectors needed to be replaced.
I also had my spark plugs replaced at the same time.
my car was at 59k at that point.

Just dealt with this on my 2008 335. At least the rough idle issues....

Dealer replaced plugs, coil packs, injectors, updated software, DSC sensors, and cleaned the intake. The problem went away and the car idles great. 54k on the clock.

My only problem now is I'm getting a P30FF every time I get on it. Need to bring it back to the dealer and let them figure out what they did to give me my new-found boost leak.
