E90 330D Inlet Manifold Clean

I have a used inlet manifold in the garage that I want to deep clean. I have removed everything off it including the EGR and am going to soak it for 24 hours in a mixture of water and caustic soda.

So should I chuck the metal EGR valve in there too? Also should I be doing a swirl flap delete? I believe my car currently has this but would rather buy another set and get it all ready for a simple bolt on job.

Nice! I bought a new Febi branded manifold for mine as the flaps were leaking

Ordered these off Ebay, more expensive than most but they look decent and the gaskets are made in Germany.

Blanking plugs and gaskets all arrived and fitted.

Hopefully next week will fit it along with glow plug module and a good clean of the surrounding area.
