could you not remove the rod, take the "flaps" out and replace the rod, so all that happens in the rod is rotated by the motor and it doesn't know any differant, but you also wont need to plug any holes...?

With the N57 you can indeed remove the flaps and rod without purchasing proper delete sections.
They are not quite as nice as a proper delete section because they have the rod holes. The flow won't be quite as smooth.

But yes, you can remove the flaps from an N57 without buying anything extra.

I do motorway 97% of the time with 20+ miles each trip, however if you run Torque (app) and watch the EGR % you will find that if at any point you are coasting / sat at 5-10% throttle the EGR will be at 95% open.
Thus filling the IM with soot...!
Without an oil catch can this will be mixed with oil vapour when you go into boost and clog it all with crap.

Off throttle - soot
On throttle - oil vapour

You cannot win! Best to fit a proper baffled oil catch can to ensure that clean air is returned into the turbo / FMIC / IM.
the bits/flaps that sit inside manifold//im sure they had a little screw/bolt on them..do they not?

The actuator on the end of the manifold (front end of the engine bay when fitted) is held on with 3x bolts. Take that and the actuator arm off and you can pull the swirl flap rod out with mole grips.
You can then just pop out the flap sections.

At that point you can either disassemble the OEM flap to make a delete or buy proper CNC deletes and put those in.

Or just push the rod back in and hook it all back up? Blocks all the holes and the actuator will just rotate the rod thinking it’s doing it’s job?

Doesn't need to be in there as the actuator arm creates the seal. The rod can be binned.

Hi I am after some advice for removing my swirl flaps on my n57 325d, I believe you can remove the flaps off the road and put the rod back in connecting it to the motor. In result the car will think the flaps are still in place without it throwing up any errors is that correct? Any advice would be appreciated thank you.

So I see there are EGR/EGR Cooler delete kits for N57 now on Ebay.

https://www.ebay.com/i/173741610490?chn=ps

Wow so many more parts than my M57, I'm kinda confused as to what all the hardware is. Has anyone done a swirl flap delete and EGR delete and tuned them out so there are no CELs yet?

Any pics of an oil catch can setup? Where to buy? Install instructions?
