Does the oil cooler get filtered oil?

I popped a rod bearing and fragments went everywhere.

I'm wondering what I need to do with my oil cooler as I'm getting my new engine ready for install.

Thanks in advance!

Wouldn't even risk it, especially on a new motor. Flush it out.

Yeah... but the decision is flush it out vs replace it with a new one.

You guys are making me do actual work. Ew.

I'll take apart my OFH and check it out for myself and post the results.

No reason for that. Is filtered and won’t be anything in it.

You're positive on that? If so I've got an oil cooler for sale... I bought a new/used one when I spun a bearing

The oil lines for the oil cooler run directly to the oil filter housing. It should be filtered. If youre paranoid though replace it for peace of mind
