Steering clunk/pop noise?

Okay I'm not sure how to describe my noise. When I move the wheel a bit stationarry there is a clunk/pop noise. I searched but I'm not even sure if my noise is related to the issue in threads, the threads that had a video the video's been deleted.

I did read though that it may have been in relation to downpipe install as steering rack was unbolted. When my downpipes were installed, after I had a loud POP when steering past halfway, went back and the shop re tighten rack bolts and that fixed it! This was in September.

But now the noise in my video started appearing out of nowhere last week.

I have that exact issue, even before the DPs were installed. I notice it specially on sold weather, not sure how to fix it and I haven't even bothered to take it to the shop

Ah, well maybe it's related to cold to me to as winter as started and it's there.

But I don't think it's the actual steering rack or leaking or anything like that.

It must be a loose bolt somewhere or something. Once I go under the car I will tighten my rack bolts again I guess.

And right now it doesn't do the noise to much.

I check new TIS to check the bolt instructions and fell onto this.

I think I'll give it a go tonight as I'm changing my oil aswell.

I checked torquing specs and it has torque to angle. Maybe they are torque to yield I think I might get 2 new bolts if the tightening don't work.

It's the 1AZ Steering gear to front axle carrier one.

I have the same type of pop. Usually happens when pulling out of the driveway on a cold start. Back out straight it's fine but as soon as I cut the wheel I get a pop. It only happens in the cold weather. No noise all summer but I had it last winter too and now it's back. I did notice a pretty bad "popping" while turning at autocross once while the car was under-steering through a turn. Never found any suspension issues though.

Something has to be loose, but, I've checked everything and there is no play anywhere. I think it might actually be the rack itself. It also seemed to go away when I raised my ride height a bit so maybe it's just suspension kinematics causing binding of certain control arms at a certain ride height? I am about 15mm lower than BMWPS ride height. 26mm or 1" lower than stock.

Ball joints on sway bar links are known to pop.

First thing to check, as mentioned by feuer, is the sway bar links. Those are much easier to diagnose.

Second thing, and likely your issue especially given you mentioned DP install, is the u-joint in the steering shaft...there are a million threads on this; here's one of them:

They'll also "pop" if the nut isn't tightened down hard enough.

Yes they could pop out but no, that isn't what I'm talking about. If the ball joint doesn't experience free movement it will pop under tension when it does move. Pop is sound it will make when released tension. Also could pop if whole link is loose as FCobra94 said when turning while stationary. If loose it will rattle during movement over small road intersections.
