This is the only thing that is kind of holding me back from doing this today. I got BPC tunes (headers, stock, MILVS, and all variations except for N54). Now that Bob left BPC and BPC is no longer supporting tuning in any form, I would have to buy yet another tune to take advantage of this mod.

I even got AA tunes for the car (2nd gen, 3rd gen tunes: headers, 3IM, and variations).

After spending all that money on Tunes I get it. Have you tried reaching out to Bob and see what he says? Maybe he can work something out with you because you are *in a way* a repeat customer lol

Pretty sure we could read out the DME and mod the tune for MILVs. You'd flash it with WinKFP though.

I was in similar situation, got the tune from BPC initially and had to purchase the MILVs tune from Bob after he left BPC.

I am fine with it. Bob knows his stuff and the customer support is awesome. Will looking into the N54 intake manifold mod once I have my MILVs install sorted out.

Hey, new to the forum. I’ve followed this thread and used it as a rough template to do my N54IM install. Hugely appreciate the thorough (albeit amateur) R&D! 3 months in, I’m noticing a relatively substantial oil leak from this fitting. I haven’t taken the manifold out yet to have a proper look at it but I put my hand up under there and felt quite a bit of oil and the dust and dirt on the block below is pretty oily too.

I know that it’s somewhat normal to get oil in the intake manifold even with a properly functioning PCV system, and I think that this leak now is just the same amount of oil that was previously going there. The issue (I think) is the seal between the fitting and the manifold. Have you had any issues with oil leaking here OP( or anyone else who’s done the conversion)? Any insight to share?

I’ve been running the N54 for quite a while now and have had no leaks whatsoever from this fitting. The only issues I ever had with the manifold were the lean codes before adjusting the mounts to the cylinder head.

Damnit. Thanks anyways. I’ll post again once I sort it out in case anyone else has the same issue down the road.

if you're "leaking" oil from the intake manifold, your CCV system is probably plugged up. There shouldn't be anything more than a thin film of oil on the inside of the manifold, certainly there shouldn't be enough for it to pour out like a lubricated part.

This is kind of what I suspected. Time for a new valve cover in the spring I guess.

I know the N54 manifold comes out at a different angle, Did you use the stock intake piping or make your own? Did the stock piping fit over the N54 TB?

I'm looking at the idea of the N54 TB on the 3IM manifold (its the same size as the Dinan upgrades and sadly don't have an extra on hand

You have to make your own connection from the Airbox to the TB. I used an assortment of parts from Amazon, a couple silicone elbows and some aluminum tubing

First of all to have NO CEL and NO LEAN CODES with this swap you MUST do the mounting fix mentioned in the thread I linked right above this post. And also to simplify the swap I wholeheartedly recommend...

When you buy your manifold get the N54 throttle body which has a port on it for the fuel tank purge valve to plug into it. Using these parts you will not have to drill the second hole in the N54 manifold and rig a port for the fuel tank vent valve.

The N54 TB is a big bore TB for the N52 so it kind of kills 2 birds with one stone. In my case it plugged right into my cars wiring harness also so perfect plug and play. Usually you can get the N54 manifold with N54 TB for ~$100 either on eBay or on this forum sales section.

I’m running this exact set up for over a year now (~20,000 miles) without a single CEL this whole time. 7500 rpms redline daily. No issues!

So from what I understand , the original PCV vacuum line you cut the T section and just use 1 port to the angle connector instead of the 2 port on the original 3IM. After you need to use fuel tank purge valve line and connect it to the N54 throttle body.

Okay cool perfect , do you know why on the 3IM they use 2 vacuum port with the T junction ? Since now you only use 1 port to the angle connector does it change anything ?

No idea why there’s 2 ports on the other manifolds. Maybe to evenly distribute all the oil that the PCV craps up our manifolds with lol

Looking into this mod again as I recently got hold of the euro airbox. Can you please share the links for the silicone elbows/tubing used for connecting the N54 manifold/TB to the airbox?

I went back and searched my Amazon account and these appear to be all the parts, plus hose clamps of course. I trimmed down the blue silicone coming off the Airbox and the Aluminum Tubing I trimmed shorter, but this was pretty straightforward to make:

Hiwowsport 90 Degree Elbow 4-Ply Thickness 5mm High Performance Coupler Silicone Hose for Auto with 2PCS T-Bolt Clamp Black Color(ID:3.5"(89mm)) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074V6K6LH...ing=UTF8&psc=1

Upgr8 Universal 4-Ply High Performance 45 Degree Elbow Coupler Silicone Hose (3.25"(83MM), Blue) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CB22I6Y...ing=UTF8&psc=1

HiwowSport 6'' Length Straight Alloy Aluminum Intake Tube Aluminum Hose Adapter OD:3.5''(89MM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07K2WG83F...ing=UTF8&psc=1

Biginboca just to clarify - those parts would only be needed if you were to use the N54 manifold and throttle body, not if you just fit the N54 throttle body to the standard N52 intake manifold as a cheapo "big bore" upgrade, correct?
