Ipod integration via phone cradle - problem
Hi Guys
I have searched for an answer, but can't find one... I have a BMW E92 2010 with: S6FL USB/audio interface S633 Preparation, mobile phone, Business S688 HARMAN/KARDON SURROUND SOUND SYSTEM S694 Provisions for BMW 6 CD changer and an ipod 5.5 plugged into an iphone 3gs cradle, the ipod starts to charge but doesn't show up on the inputs list ( i do get USB/blue tooth/front aux) am I missing something ? does something need to be 'switched' on ? does this need coding to work ? or is something broken ? the Ipod works, the cradle is untested, but bought as working... or should I ditch this & put the Ipod in the boot (also what would I need to do that ??) thanks in advance Paul

Aha !!
Hi sk1939 thanks for your reply... yes plugging into USB the ipod displays the BMW logo, the music is searchable via idrive & plays !! I guess that's why I only had 2X cables when I did the phone cradle delete ( antenna & power/sound) guess I will be doing a re-delete.... so what is the difference between "carplay" & "ipod integration" ?? as I don't have a glove box USB is there anything I can do to add another ?? thanks in advance Paul

CarPlay is the modern version, adds features like the ability to use Waze/Apple Maps and other such things. iPod integration is exactly that, uses the older iPod interface to do the same things you could if you connected it to an iPod dock (music, podcasts, charging). As far as adding another USB, it would probably conflict with the iPod functionality if you connected something else other than to charge, but you could try a USB hub.
