Best exhuast for AT 335I?
I have a 2008 E90 335I sedan AT Steptronic. I want an exhuast that is a little louder than stock but not going to drone me out daily driving and attract cops as i drive by. I honestly dont care about the note of it, more interested in the weight saving and functionality of it freeing up airflow.
BTW, dont want any D-bag "search" answers cause I have done plenty of that and I want to hear from people that actually have an exhuast on their car, NOT "I hear...." or "They say....".

Harmon Motive exhaust here. Great sound not too loud. As far as cops I got pulled over once for tinted windows and exhaust. He let me go without a ticket. Lucky!!!!!!!!

I have the Borla catback and love it!
It's not too loud and the droning is not bad at all. I won't lie to you and say that there is no droning, but it's definitely not annoying or bothersome. GL!

Problem is with that thread is that some of them are closed. And im more interested in hearing from people that have one installed on an automatic. Just dont want to drone myself to death while i drive normally.

Getting rid of the mufflers saved quite a bit of weight. It'll drone your brain to mush on the freeway though between 2.1K and 2.5K, which coincidentally equates to about 66mph - 81mph in top gear, or somewhere in that neighborhood. Guess I just need to get rid of those resonators too then.

Not the cheapest solution out there but from what you are describing as needs/requirements you might want to consider the stock BMW performance exhaust (aprox. 1750$ from Tisher). Sorry I don't have any pics, videos or personnal experience but from the description of what you are looking for maybe this will do!
Past experience with Borla is that they do not make the loudest systems but I hear you for your droning fears! G/L

+1 I didn't make any sound clips, but Mr. 5 (and someone else, I think) made some great tunnel clips.

If weight savings is your main goal, i'd definitely suggest the Encore Innovation TI exhaust. The mufflers weight 13lbs versus the stock 39lbs. Being titanium i know most automatically assume its incredibly expensive and loud, but the sound is surprisingly subtle and it's more affordable then you think
Either that or i'd agree with the above and say go with HKS. It's one of the quieter exhausts available. |
