This fire is pretty close to my house, my car was in the garage but everything else is covered in ashes especially my pool. I have some family members that had to evacuate from their house, hopefully it doesn't spread more or else ill have more family having to evacuate. All is good with their house so far, hopefully it comes to an end soon. I also think there is more to be said as far as the idiots starting the fire.

I see... Then again the ONLY news article I found on the subject 3 hours after waking up at 7AM to a huge plume of smoke was "a fire was started by..." and "police have detained 2 persons of interest...", so I jumped the gun a bit and therefore stand corrected. Still, frickin' idiots should've had some common sense!

He forgot to add the 3 young males were up in the mountains to hunt some mountain lions. Note to young males don't post on Facebook. It's called evidence.

So I've been going to this meet that happens every 2 weeks but it's mostly JDM cars. Today a lot of muscle cars were there and I asked the host if I can post on a forum for e9x's. He said everyone is welcome.

The next meet is on the 31st. Any thoughts?

Here's the fb link.

Hey...I just got a ticket for front window tint while driving on the 5 !@#@#$@$

Nothing else was wrong. WTF?

Anyway, anyone got cheap suggestions on what to do?

Is the only option to go and get it taken off then put on again?

Where do I take it to get signed off?

Thanks...so annoying.

Well you can pay to have it taken off and put back on. Get the ticket signed off at Police dept. Or you can remove the tine yourself, then pay to get it put back on. Only other option is to just pay the ticket and forget about it.

That sucks. The only thing you can do is take off the front tints and get it put back on later. Usually you take it back to your tint shop and they remove it for free but most of the time you have to pay. Depends on the shop. Then you go to the CHP to get it inspected. You pay cash or some people got it written off for free. I'm never that lucky. And go to the court house and pay another fee. Remember to go to the court house or your ticket is still open and the bench warrant etc might be a problem plus your fine goes up. Get it taken care of ASAP, so you don't have to deal with it later and/or forget about it. Your fix it ticket can be $900+ if you don't take care of it in a timely manner. Don't ask me how I know.

Pretty sure the CHP charges to sign off tickets but your local PD shouldn't. I have gotten three tint tickets over the years and have taken to the PD to get signed off and never paid for the signature.

Depends on the PD, I've had tickets signed off by the CHP and not paid(depends on the ticket) and then gone to a City like Chino and had them ask for $35 to sign it off. If you get lucky you might run across a cop who is not busy and ask them but that's been hit or miss for me. FYI I've had tint tickets, no front plate and several odd ones on my bike(fender cut too short, didn't like the turn signals- home made LED ones, too loud stock pipe?) to name a few. I go to the CHP office they always have someone willing to sign off.

weird, mine have all been 310/626/619/858 and I can't think of a single fix-it that didn't have a correction fee

Seriously? They charge to sign off a fixit? Lame.

Thanks for the replies...

What do I do if I live in San Diego? Do I have to drive back up to Long Beach?

You can get it signed off any where and send the ticket into the court. No need to drive back up to LB.

Thanks for the tip. Next time, I'll use the PD. And yes went to the CHP because it's right next to the court house. But my current tint is light so I have no worries anymore.

I think there's a semantics issue here. The CHP does not charge to sign off the ticket, the fee to process the ticket thru the court is still applicable depending on how the ticket was written. I've had one a plate ticket with no fine and another tint ticket with a $25 fine. Two very separate issues and yes some PD's do charge just to look and sign, it's all up to the PD and city they serve.

This is what I'm referring to

http://www.courts.ca.gov/9529.htm

http://www.dmv.org/ca-california/traffic-ticket-faq.php

Quote:
If you get a fix-it ticket or correctable violation, your traffic ticket will indicate whether you must pay for the violation or provide proof of correction. If it's the latter, you must get an authorized person (police officer, DMV agent, court clerk) to sign the Certificate of Correction part of your ticket. You then must appear in court before the citation’s deadline date with proof of correction and payment for the dismissal fee. The court will then dismiss your case.
I've never had a fix it dismissed without a fee, nor have I ever had to pay an officer to sign off (I've done it at the CHP, even asked a random cop I saw in a parking lot once to sign off a correction for my front plate). Sounds like another money grab to get a couple extra bucks, I wouldn't put it past these guys to charge for a signature.
