Control arm bushings is another potential culprit. |

Thats what i'm thinking. With the hot weather lately, it has been getting far worse, further confirming that it is more than likely a rubber bushing. M3 control arms ordered and on there way! Will check back here with an update after I install them.

Anyhow I am thinking when spinning the wheel there should be some drag but not too much. The rear has the differential and driveaxles so it does not spin that easy as the front.

Sometimes you're lucky and the pad sensor goes off. You'll be confused at first looking at the outside pad but check the inside and you might find the culprit. |

Vibration between 70 and 80
The other day, I notice a small steering wheel vibration on my 2006 325xi between 70 an 80 mph on the interstate. It was. on a re-surface section and it looked very smooth.
I had been driving for 30 minutes plus and the air temp was in the 80s. Later in my trip I was on another interstate and did not notice this vibration. This is the first that I noticed this vibration but I have not been at this speed since I rotated my tires. The tires are non RFTs Conti DWS 225/40-18 and have 27000 miles. The tires were road forced balanced when installed. The vehicle has 87700 miles on it. Original struts, and suspension bushings. Any ideas would be appreciated. I kinda thinking front struts are going. Wallyf |

I had vibrations after 55mph and above, changed tires, tie rod, checked bushings. turned out that I had THREE bent wheels. sweet NY patholes, got all three fixed and vibration is gone.
make sure the place you go should not overlook everything because my first tire shop overlooked and I was keep asking them that did you check for bent wheels, they said ye ye . |

Update: after installing the M3 control arms, all vibration through the steering is completely gone. When taking off the old arms they had an incredible amount of play to them. Car had about 88k miles.

UPDATE: Solved Turned out to be BOTH bearings on the driver's side.
I hit a massive pothole, had vibrations/humming throughout the cabin and in the pedal feel afterwards. Here were the steps it took... 1. Had my underhood shield and Rod replaced. Shield was torn and flapping, rod was bent. "Vibration" 2. Replaced blown rim and tire, and had all the other wheels re-balanced. "Vibration" 3. Replaced driver side rear wheel bearing... Still felt vibration/humming at speeds over 63mph, but it was slightly different; more vibration from the front now. S 4. Shop said that I probably messed up both bearings on the driver's side, so I should replace the front too. Also, my front driver side tension strut was damaged, so he suggested I upgrade to M3/TRW tension struts.. 5. Replaced driver side BMW Wheel Hub Assembly Front . Upgraded to M3 tension struts on both sides, and got an alignment...... The vibration is gone! The car doesn't feel as smooth as I remember, but after driving around with that vibration, this is so much better. I think my front wheels may be damaged or not straight, so that'll be the next thing to tackle. But for now I'm happy that replacing BOTH wheel bearings got rid of that vibration.

Bimmerworld has the 5-piece m3 control arm kit for $362 shipped. Is that a good deal??
I'm not seeing anyone selling control arms in the for sale section. https://www.bimmerworld.com/Suspensi...0-E92-E93.html

It'll be SO worth it when you're done! What is your reasoning for replacing the tie rods? Did you notice that they were one their way out? Were they loose in any way? I thought about doing mine, but they seemed pretty solid still.

Hopefully! Excited for the improved handling and turn-in with corners. I'm debating on replacing the Tie-rods... I've read numerous times people change them since everything is apart.

Hmm.. I was researching for quite a while before I bought everything to do my whole refresh and I didn't see too much about them. When putting the control arms in, I did give mine a couple of yanks and they seemed solid. Hopefully they don't start going out soon...
