car has no coolant????

hello i have a 2008 335xi, so this morning i turned the car on and it said low coolant, i turned the car off and opened the coolant cap and saw this:

there is fluid on the right side, but none on the left where that screw is or that stick looking thing, is that all supposed to be full? if so could this be from evaporation or is this a leak?

thanks

check besides there is a mark that shows how to fill when cold and hot. Just follow it. Make sure you use BMW coolant only bue in color.

soem coolant say ADD WATER others say donot.
Thats the expansion tank, it should be mostly full.
i just had my coolant hose punctured by my FMIC clamp and it was a headache.
take off your undershelid.
fill up with coolant or water....it doesnt matter, if your car went from OK to LOW COOLANT....youve got a big leak IMO.
see where it comes out.
youll need to run a bleed cycle to start the pump and see where it comes out.

That stick should be popping up near or just above the cap. Top off the reservoir until the stick is to that point. Peak around for leaks near the hoses that connect to the reservoir and below it.
