Sold the 335 Touring and bought an X5....
With Louisa about to give birth any day now (her due date is today!!) i decided that the 335 just wasn't really big enough. First person that saw the 335 bought it for full asking price and i picked this up today. Its fully loaded with every option including Head-Up Display and Panoramic Roof etc. Ive already got a list as long as my arm with how i want to "personalise" it!! Probably going to start with some 22" rims and then the Aero kit for starters. Remap is also definitely on the cards!!

You just can't help yourself can you mate
That 335 looks stunning, I am guessing the guy that bought it realised that! Not a fan of 4x4s personally but I hope you enjoy the new motor. |

Great choice - fully understandable as I've decided if I change it will have to be an E70 X5. There is just so much room in the back, plus the floor is totally flat which makes a difference to those in the back. Is it a 7 seater?
PS After umming and arring over what to get to replace my shagged 159 Burton Cascade (2001) - I plumped for a Burton Custom Flying V (160cm) in the end - interesting board, perhaps a bit hyped but the V-profile does make the handling interesting - when punting it straight down a slope it feels lively / fidgety underfoot - basically ready to snap any turn - but always under control (sort of a contradiction). Part of me wishes I'd just got a normal Custom, but it is growing on me. Last edited by F31-340i; 02-19-2011 at 03:37 PM.. |

Steve I wished you'd got another RRS tbh, just classier imo and the real thing.
Anyhow, found something that would suit your driving style much more and a bit rare. Orca black verano leather, carbon atlas inlays, ceramic brakes, 1000 NM of torque 493 PS, forget the MPG lol and 0-62 in 5.5. Price may make you cough a tad but hey, not many would catch you off the lights! Hope all goes well with Louisa btw. |

Looks great Steve, best of luck with it. Must say, your E91 335 looks great with your mods - the alloys are lovely!
Good luck with the impending arrival

Looks like a great car!
Just looking at the pic in your sig, did you buy it from a garage in Leicestershire, (garage name beginning with 'H'), as those trees/plants near the front doors looks very familiar!

Looks lovely Steve, hope all goes well with the impending baby arrival.
Looking forward to seeing this one evolve into a 'Hoops special'.

Thanks for all the comments chaps and Helen - and thanks for the best wishes re Louisa. We had a curry tonight but that hasnt done much thus far!!! Mind you i will be quite relieved if we make it through the night without going into labour as she has opted for a water birth and that could be interesting post curry - would be like giving birth in a watery balti!! Anyway, yes the guy that bought the 335 has kept the plate but is giving it back once all the paperwork gets back and yes he lives around that area - he text me today to tell me how chuffed to bits he is with it - he is talking about taking it to the Ring this summer. The alloys on the 335 are 19" VMR 710's. Re the snowboard - i personally love the Custom and dont think theres a better all round board. Ive just come back from Chamonix and they need snow badly!! Im hoping to head out to Meribel end of March if all goes well but very much snow dependant. Sorry about the crap pic quality above - light conditions in both sets was poor and i had to slightly photoshop them. Yes, X5 is Space Grey and only 5 seats. And i genuinely didnt feel the 335 Touring was big enough, the rear cabin is nowhere near as spacious as the X5 and the boot on the 335 is verging on pathetic really - so for the time being the X5 ticks all the right boxes for the family. As for the RRS - i do agree Helen, the RR has much more road presence and is definitely a classier and more refined place to be from inside, but ive been there done that twice now, having owned an RRS HST a few years ago and lately the 2010 facelift RRS - loved them both but wanted to scratch the X5 itch. I couldnt afford to stretch to a new shape RRS otherwise that would have been my number one choice - and fuel economy and handling were high on the agenda and the X5 is much better on both fronts to the old shape RRS. Anyway, thanks again everyone and will keep you posted re the new babys arrival.

Yeah, I definitely saw your old motor then, already had a ring sticker on the back, was that yours or has he added it?
Not sure I saw the guy, I think he might have been inside the kebab shop as I walked past (on my way to Great Wall to pick up food ), tallish chap with a pony-tail and beard? I think he clocked me checking out the car I am convinced it was yours, the wheels etc all looked "right". |

LOL - yep thats him!! To be fair he was a really nice chap and it was a totally easy and hassle free transaction, so cant knock it. Ring sticker was definitely not mine and not on car when i sold it - to be honest i always think its a bit naughty to put a Ring sticker on a car that hasnt been around the circuit, it needs to earn its wings first!! But as i say he is very keen on taking it to the Ring this summer. Funnily enough, it just shows you what a very small world it is, he actually knows Mr Tony Ho very well and was at the Ring with Tone last summer!!

It is indeed a small world, we're all in the same (well, similar) neck of the woods so it's to be expected I guess. It's just so random that you post this today and the very same evening I see the car/new owner! So weird... |
