CCC To CIC Retrofit

I have just changed my CCC professional sat nav to 2012 CIC pro with the plug and play module harness
Change the date and added 6va to VO and generated my own FSC code and bought the 2016 maps for $75 loaded the map through the newly install USB in the glove box and all good what a difference.
I codded the Legal Disclaimer to off.
Still haven't got tv to work yet or DVD not to worried about it.
CD changer works and I uploaded music cd's to the HDD.
As I already change my I drive controller to the CIC one a couple of years ago so I don't need to replace to centre console trim.

The difference is night and day a hell of lot.
Full 8.8in map screen and day and night modes.
Plus maps for CCC stopped in 2014 no more updates.
So much quicker as well, very clear to look at and sharp HD.

Where did you get the kit from? How much?
How did you code it by the way? I thought it requires a special BMW program?

The big difference and the way to tell is CCC has a second disc slot drive because the maps run from a cd.

CIC uses a HDD

Big speed difference

I bought it from a guy in Poland
The whole system is in perfect condition
The HD CID screen was made in 2015 latest part number
The CIC still the latest part number 2012
The controller
That lot $1100aud
Then USB cable and USB switch
CID cable all up $170aud
Bimmerretrofit navigation and voice activation module plug and play harness
$500aud
2016 Road Map $68aud
Some of the cars software updated $200aud
I generated my own FSC code no cost
Coding done by myself using NCSexpert a very good bit of kit DR.GINI BMW SOFTWARE which pulled the donor Vin number from CIC and generated a FSC code for activating the road map.
Just got the DVD going after coding the area code and also in video in motion.

To get tv to work you will need to repin some stuff on the quad connector and code it accordingly.

Yes I thought it would be a wire repin but I don't know which one at the moment.
VM Module is green on ISTA-D as I already have TV function.

Hi Chappy! Was it easy to do the swap? I've just bought the professional CIC and combox and just swapping my business CIC. How long did you take to do the coding?

Happy to hear that so far so good. The downside for me and why I didn't do it, is that you can never put your car back on a dealer computer as it won't be able to do software updates/coding due to the mix of modules. This might be ok for you, but it isn't much good for the next guy that buys the car.

HI TREV88
Doesn't take long to swap its feeding the USB cable to the glove box, and up taking the glovebox out completely.
Coding itself doesn't take very long its just adding a few things.
Not doing the combox I think that will take some time.
Had another play tying to get the TV to work no luck, tried to swap a couple of signal wires around according to one forum.
Keep looking in to it.

I'm in the process of buying a CIC unit from a donor vehicle, my car already has the CCC business system. What coding will I need to do, do I just need to change the vehicle order to include the CIC system?

If your converting to professional I'm not sure whether you need extra wiring You have to get the whole car updated to latest software.
Then change your VO date and add 6VA and few more depending on vehicle
You need the activation and voice module plug and play harness
FSC code for activating and uploading of the road map
Cost of the road map
You need the donor VIN number from the CIC unit to get your FSC codes

Yeah I have the new style idrive controller so that's a plus. only thing i need to swap out is the screen and unit itself. Also my car is the LCI model MY2009 so does that mean I don't have to change the vehicle order date? where can I get it updated?

Changing the screen is easy, you just unscrew and pull it forward.

Bimmertech and Bimmerretrofit both supply the parts for these conversions, you will pay for it but they also give you FSC codes and help code your car etc

I thought the whole point of bimmer retrofit harness was to skip FSC codes?

Can you explain why you had to do both?

The donor CIC navigation is locked when you install in your car and you have to have 3 sets of BMW FSC codes to release it which cost a fortune from BMW hence the module harness or HDD activation and then you need a FSC code to upload your map to the CIC which is pretty cheap from various sources.
