Did I damage the radio harness? Radio doesn't work anymore

I was trying to install an aftermarket Android head unit and the adapter that was provided to go on the OEM radio harness was extremely snug. When I had everything plugged in I tried to turn on the new head unit. It didn't turn on and I wanted to test out to make sure it wasn't anything wrong with the wiring.

I had to pull really hard to separate the adapter and radio harness. Afterwards when I plugged in the BMW Professional Radio, it won't turn on anymore.

Is it possible to damage the radio harness by pulling really hard on it? I had the latch to unlock when I was pulling apart the adapter and harness.

I'm referring to #5 on the diagram below:
