I think it is awesome that Apple is working on improving the performance of 5-6 year old phones. Apple prices their phones at a premium but you get premium service for the price.

With the $30 new battery replacement deal and iOS12, they are making old iphones viable for a long time. What other phone company is working on improving the performance of old phones?
My iPhone 6plus was running really well on iOS 12. I'm writing this from my new XSMax and I might not keep it since the improvements don't seem worth it if my old one is running well.

Apparently my Apple ID was hijacked yesterday. While getting my phone fixed at the AT&T store, the tech recommended I do not install iOS 12 till about October 1, to make sure there's no more bugs to work out

Verizon offered $100 for trade in - I'd rather keep it, looks like perpetuum mobile to me now.

I literally do nothing with my iPhone X's AR capabilities.

Loving ios12 on my X too.

1) Best feature by far is the ability to swipe up to close the apps without holding for a second. Simple but effective.

2) Memoji's is such a laugh, i'm wondering is it using the same sensor used for face id or just the regular camera?

You can go into settings and update it yourself. The prompt usually doesnt come until later.

Yes you can manually install it. Your phone will be faster. I think Waze isn't updated for CarPlay yet.

My 6s plus is about 10% slower and has 10 to 20% less battery life.

Not sure if they are still offering $30 battery replacement you should check. That and ios12 will make the device faster. Check your battery health in settings to see if it allows peak performance. I would assume if you use a battery case that would also help.

I downloaded it last night. Waze wanted to update almost immediately, and says it has CP interface, but only on certain models. Wifey had the e90 so didn't get to test.

Went thru the Waze settings and found out that they DID put an option on the speed rating so I can choose something other than right at the speed limit changing to red.

I was plugged in and had about 85% battery when I started the upgrade. Afterwards, I was at about 35% I may make an appt for a new battery now.

Multiple times, before I did a hard shut-down, I got messages that my SIM wasn't installed. I tried to pull my cover to clean it and ripped it ;(

That sux. They should be able to get you a new SIM at no charge since they're pretty cheap. (The carrier that is.). I guess it does use the battery for optimization or something even when plugged in like on the MacBook.

They're just suggestions based on your usage. You can choose to add them or not. They'll change based on your recent usage.
