You can start with a Powerbox, intake, performance exhaust and thats about all you can do for some hp for the 325i

you can gain about 19 hp from a softwear upgrade from tunnermotorsports. well worth it let me tell ya!! get an intake, exhaust, and sprintbooster. that should get you around 240 or so. Thats really about as good as it gets.

I wouldn't pay a dollar for performance upgrades. Just make her look pretty and wait it out until you get your next whip. My E46 330xi is looking mean, but performance mods are useless on it. Now obviously the 335 is a different story...

I installed the 330i intake manifold and got a software upgrade. It works OK so far but it need a custom dyno tune which I'm waiting for. If you want to waste a few hours of your life you can read the stickey thread at the top of this subforum. The manifold is about $1000 and about $400 to install and the software is $530 (Powerchip). You can save the $400 and DIY if you have the time and you know what you are doing. I have their generic 330i tune but part throttle tuning doesn't work right at all. Full throttle and no throttle work fine with no codes. Once I get the custom tune, it will be available for anyone. Powerchip claims 275 hp but we'll see once I get some dyno runs in.

kjrulz has a valid point on modding. It's not for everyone but I'm about $9000 upsidedown on my carloan from driving it too much so I'm kinda stuck with her.

you can do a intake manifold swap for a 330 and get someone to tune it to work. then get a power box, and exhaust, light wheels and tires, and BAM.. kicked up a notch

You can do what this guy did. It will add 85 hp to your 325i instantly.

Unless you're planning to spend thousands of dollars, a 50+ hp gain is impossible...it's just the nature of a N/A engine

Dynos are comming. Got a message Powerchip, they may be up here soon but I've heard that already a few months ago.
