Bmw e92 Lci Grill

Does anyone know why some oem lci grills have chrome surrounds with black inners/black leading edges and others with black inners/chrome leading edges?

Is it a model variant thing? Mine is a 330 with the chrome leading edges.

Pretty sure it had something to do with the 3.0 getting one style and every other engine variant getting the other. I’m sure someone can confirm that though.

Yes I'm pretty sure that's right. I don't think it's strictly an LCI thing though and I'm pretty sure they did the same thing with the e46?
