Did it actually have to Fail to claim you think? I did mine proactively as I thought I was sitting on a ticking timebomb and had it replaced at 110k ... maybe it would’ve lasted another 60k, maybe it would fail the next day, that was the only common issue with these cars that will leave you stranded.

BMWs leak like crazy and drive perfect, but if the cooling system fails you’re sitting alongside the road waiting for AAA or a tow truck.

In the end, the damaged parties will get a fast food meal and the Attorneys will get new Summer homes.

Because N54 owners are a bunch of whiners.

We N52 owners just drive the piss out of our cars for long periods of time and go have lunch...

Only the 335is convertible and not the coupe? Mine just failed 2 weeks ago at 75K, 2013 335is.

I believe it's because the N54 water pump has the plastic housing in the front where the impeller is that usually cracks, where the N52/N51 impeller is metal. This makes the N54 water pumps more prone to failure, and many crack right in the front where the plastic housing meets the metal part of the pump.

The water pump failed on my 535i at 72k and I have the service record from the shop that did it but not a actual payment receipt or credit card statement. I wonder if I could still get a payout.

mine started to fail at 100 000 miles . I could ve probably got more out of it but I decided to replaced. Having said that, it may be my luck but all my cars have had the water pump failed at around that mileage, from mazda, honda , buick, nissan ... The main difference is that those cars is a 500$ job compared to a 1000$ job .

I just thought it was normal for them to failed at 100 k miles ... Lets see how long the new one lasts, I never had one failed twice in their lifetime

The turbo models seemed to fail twice as much as half the mileage intervals of non turbo cars it seemed. Not surprisingly as this was BMWs entry back into turbo engines and well, they worked out many kinks over the years as newer models do seem “better”

With that said non turbo engines had the same issues. BMWs run hot and cooling systems is something they been notorious for over the years... I wonder if that lawsuit will add all engines/models?

You drive the N52 anytime you want; you drive the N54 when it feels like it...

On the average, you're still driving a BMW.

Exactly. Mine failed at 8 years and 75000miles. Had it fixed at an authorized dealer for nearly $2000. Darned.

Had a 335i and a 535i both fail before 70K miles, but outside of warranty.

Do you need to submit the supporting documentation with the initial form? I may not have that still and might need to go to BWM to get the documentation which could be a problem since I don't still own the cars.

Hi All,

My original water pump failed at six years and at 71,455 miles. I had it trucked to Bobby Rahal BMW in Cannonsburg PA (from Punxsutawney). They only replaced the water pump and not the thermostat. I paid $1022. I have submitted the form and the invoice to the settlement website.

We will see what happens!

Oh wow, I haven't been here in a while. I wasn't expecting a class action lawsuit from BMW water pumps.
