xi's sit pretty high up so no you wouldn't need one, but unless you decide to lower your car a little bit later you will need to roll or trim the back inner fenders.

i would have thought that 255/40 would have given you the closest front to rear match, but you went for closest rear to OEM non M route - correct?

Is it true that M3 has taller sidewall or 2% difference on rear versus fronts? I had no idea! (and I really like the chnunky tyres, but the 245 tyre on front, damn, your car must tramline like a pig!).

Super helpful post. I have an E90 330xi 2006 without any modifications (ie. lowering, etc). I am looking at a set of these exact wheels and tires. I expect I will have to roll my fenders to get these to work, but do you think I would still experience rubbing after I roll the fenders (keeping in mind my car isn't lowered)?

Just wanted to see if anybody had fitted 255/35R18 rears on the style 219's as I just bought a set with 245/40R18 front and 255/35/18 rears for my '07 328i...From what I've gathered in the various threads on the topic, 265/35 rears barely rub, I'm hoping the 255/35 rears wont rub in my case. I know people were reluctant to use 255's in the rear because they would look stretched, but I don't mind a little bit of stretch for awesome rub-free fitment

If nobody tried yet I'll come back in here to post the results.

Picked the wheels up today, and confirming that there is NO rubbing whatsoever with the 255/35 rear tire. I've driven about 100 miles with my four stock wheels/tires in the back (200lbs worth of weight in the trunk and on the back seat) and it never rubbed.

The tire is a bit stretched but nothing too obvious and I have to say, the setup overall is amazing, completely changes the look of the car!

I am running the same setup (219M on an E90) but with a 255/35/18 rear Michelin PS2 tire in the back and am getting ready to lower on HR Sport springs. (the gap in the front is driving me nuts)

I have the OEM sport package already. Should I expect to rub in the rear? I have almost 2 fingers worth of clearance from rear tire to rear fender. Much help is appreciated!

You will be just fine with 255's and H&R sport springs. The rear drop is maybe a 1/4 of an inch lower than the Eibach Pro-Kit springs. Enjoy the improved stance.

Hey, sorry to bring this after so long. So I have late 2006 330i saloon sport suspension, I was really looking at getting these 219m. I found a good deal on them but it’s a square set of 4 18x9.5 et23. I was thinking of just stretching some 235 or 245 on the front. Do you think that is viable?

Im pretty confident that the 18x9.5 in the front is going to give you some crazy poke and that plus a really stretched tire would not look great. I would say find a set of the staggered or find a square set of the fronts.

Hi everyone,

I really appreciate all of the information provided in this thread that is spanning over a decade. I wouldn’t have been able to get these wheels on my car without it.

I recently was able to secure some 219m wheels on marketplace for 500 bucks. They are in 8/10 shape. I was looking for something that would make more car look better without breaking the bank.

I am hoping I can clarify some information for anyone in the same situation as me, wondering if they will rub on an e92 without rolling fendors and/or camber. That is just something I would rather not deal with.

I currently have a 2011 LCI 335ix E92 with msport package on stock springs.

When I bought the wheels they had this spec of tires on them. This would be the “correct” size for the wheels. However, based on my research, this would cause rubbing.

F: 245/40/18
R: 265/40/18

The only solution without modifying fendors is to get smaller tires and have a slight stretch as suggested by others in this thread. However, no one could 100% confirm that this would work. Well I tested this out. I am currently running this spec.

F: ET29 18x8.5 225/40/18
R: ET23 18x9.5 255/35/18

With Goodyear Eagle Exhilarate tires.

I have driven the car almost 300 miles since and have had zero rubbing. This is by myself in the car and with a passenger. Also I don’t see much of a stretch at all. The offset looks beautiful on my car. I also haven’t noticed any difffernce in the ride with the slightly stretched tires. I was worried I wouldn’t have enough sidewall for comfort

I frankly can’t tell the difference, I was running these same tires on this spec of wheels before mounting them on these 219ms

F: 18x8
R: 18x8.5

They feel the same.

Keep in mind my car isn’t on lowering springs (yet). I currently have some H&R sport springs that I intend to put on. Based on the data in this thread and my math, I still shouldn’t rub on those with this tire spec. I will update this thread in a few months with my report of that.

I hope this helps at least one person because this is the post I was really looking for when doing my research.
