Electrical Problems. INPA in German
So the old E90 is acting up. Still starts and runs decent enough (good as it's gonna) so I'm hoping this is something simple. However the INPA data as well as my Foxwell scanner enhanced data kinda scares me.
For some reason my INPA is in German. I can only understand about 15% of the trouble code description. But from what I gather it's mostly loss of communication with modules I am hoping that most of this is my battery is on its way out. I notice low system voltage. Please see attached INPA logs. Help is appreciated. |

All I see there are the typical code people here get when they tune with bimmerlabs and a water pump code. Erase and if it comes back you likely do have a pump going bad though I've seen the wiring go out on some too in pictures here.
INPA is usually in German, at least the codes

The water pump was replaced 10k miles ago with a brand new one. Hope that isn't the case. I'm pretty sure i bought it from ECSTuning which would be likely OE spec. IF not it was junk i got off Rock Auto. *facepaolm*
Yes, the car has been coded with bimmerlabs after the 3 stage manifold upgrade. |

I don't mind trying to Sprechen Ze Deutch.
Damnit it's BECK/ARNLEY 1312486. Cheap water pump. But going out at 10k is shocking even for a cheap one IMO. Also i forgot to mention. I went through the enhanced data with the Foxwell scan tool with the ehnanced features for BMW and found the battery is coded / programmed to the OE 90AH AGM battery. I have a 95AH AGM battery. Could it be as simple as a one of the modules not letting the larger capacity battery fully charge? Maybe I'll just pull the alternator and have it tested, reprogram for the battery after it is fully charged, clear the codes, and hope for the best. I use ISTA because I'd rather fully know what I'm reading but google translate works well enough for INPA, I've only learned misfire, disa valves and fan clutch so far
Beck Arnley stuff nowadays is pretty much just rebranded China parts. I wouldn't be surprised if it has started crapping out already. These alternators don't fit in the autozone alternator tester at least the one I went to, so just a heads up if you plan to actually take it off.

Is there any chance the water pump codes could be related to low voltage?
Maybe the codes weren't cleared when the pump/thermostat was replaced 10k miles ago? However I doubt that as I had it replaced only because the old one (replaced once before I got the car) had over 70k miles on it. I was going to try Advance for the alt / batt test as that's where I usually go. Not sure if their test machines would be any different. |
