Somewhat off topic but related, What are you guys thinkin as far as oil type goes after DPF/EGR gone? I ask as I know alot of the truck diesel engines with DPF/EGR call for low ash oils. Is it safe to say after these systems are gone one could use a non low ash oil. I'm not even sure if the BMW oil is low ash?

This is something I've been contemplating as well. Think I'll likely be going with similar oil I use in my pre-DPF Cummins engine. Something like synthetic Mobile 1 TDT or Shell Rotella T6 (which is still a low ash formulation) 5w-40 options. Have multiple UOA's of the BMW recommended oils to compare against.

Thanks. I think I'll do the same.

A couple questions.
1) this one is admittedly dumb. I presume I need to disconnect battery prior to ECU removal. I have been told trunk can't be opened if battery is disconnected. I either have to leave trunk open or open trunk from back seats as I cold weather package with the folding forward seats. So, does anyone know if the emergency pull handle ( it glows in the dark) works when battery is disconnected?
2) I want to know if whole diffuser should be removed aft of down pipe or if I destroy the blades in it and put outer ring back in? I recall TDI saying he did something with diffuser.

Back to 1: I have car in garage but want to keep cat out of car.

Don't you think that's a little harsh and silly, considering Axel STARTED this thread, oh so many posts ago?

This thread reads like a soap opera script.

Forgot to quote bb_cuda .. I can answer the first question of yours.. The the emergency handle in the trunk is self illuminating and does not require a power source. The next part of that is that you can manually open your drivers door and release the hood and access the jumper posts and attached a jumper to unlock the vehicle

1.) Definitely disconnect the battery. You can lower the trunk lid without latching it. Cat shouldn't be able to open it unless you have a big ass cat...

2.) The diffuser just pops on/off. I removed the whole thing.

A little off topic but, I am assuming some of you must have had a juice box... So again I'm sure you will no longer need this item I to am going to the Dfp delete but mine won't be ready for a while, and since I'm impatient I am interested in purchasing one from anyone here who no longer needs it, so I can enjoy some of the power this amazing car possesses in the mean time pm me if anyone here is willing to part with yours, thanks!

I put a blanket over the latch and just pushed the trunk lid down on it gently. ECU has been pulled and shipped.

Whenever I disconnect the battery and have to lock the trunk, I use my little conventional key to unlock the trunk lid after to connect back the battery.

This is awesome news. I guess we will be sending the DDEs in the order we are on the original list. I'm assuming RSW does not want a flood of ECUs at the same time.

My apologies if this list is not correct, but this is the latest I could find/compile. It's been reshuffled a bit to remove people that have changed their mind and also add people that came in after. It's hard going through all the post trying to figure out who's in and who's not. Let's confirm this one.
