%^#!@*, Damaged my rim last night! OUCH!

Hit a rock or piece or ice larger than a softball with my REAR wheel. It won't polish out but I know it can be repaired. I live about 20 mins from the Wheel Collision Center in Bath, PA. I was thinking of taking it there for repair. Also wondering what would be a reasonable price. If someone has a better suggestion as to where to get it repaired I would appreciate it. New wheel will only cost $225 plus shipping and mounting and balancing. At what price is it no longer cost effective to repair? At least the wheels are not expensive .

Somehow I don't think ice could do that. Gotta have been a rock

A typical fix around my area is $100 per wheel. But...

If the wheel only cost that much, personally I'd just buy a new one. And use your damaged wheel as a spare or for emergency if you ever bend one of the other 4 wheels.

My first and (thankfully) only repair was $225 for a front 189. It was an absolutely spectacular job, but I don't anticipate returning to that particular shop.

It was damn cool checking out the lambos in the lot, though

Unfortunately, since it is a rear tire and staggered set up, I doubt whether it could be used on the front.

Closest one is only 1 hr away in Philly area. I will contact them and see how their costs compare with the Wheel Collision Center, which I believe will chage almost as much as a new wheel

Then I would get a new wheel anyways and use the damaged one for decoration or something. I would get it repaired, but the replacement is so cheap, it just makes more sense this way IMO.

Sucks man, good luck getting them fixed. How much did you get the wheels for?

Is it unreasonable to try to DIY the repair?

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=diy+curb+rash

Fill that nick in with bondo, sand it down, prime/paint it... good to go.

Unfortunately, that won't work on a POLISHED aluminum rim. I've done that repair on painted rims and they worked out well.

Hey Dr. GP how are your tires holding up? So far 1,500 miles on my General UHP's and my rears (265/30/19) are ready to be replaced... ick.

Was wondering if it's half because of my lowered suspension but the guys at the tire shops say they see premature wear on e92's all the time.

These new rims could get very expensive in no time.
