$338 For Runflats.
Got a nail in my right rear tire today. Called up local dealer and they quoted $338.50 for the one tire. Eh. Damn run flats. Pissed I got a flat so soon it's only been a few months. Has anyone had to change their run flats so soon? Or did you just end up switching to normal tires.

I think I will, bronco. Pretty pricey tires though. Although they are runflats so I guess there is somewhat a need for higher pricing.

Thanks for the info. I was not planning on asking them to patch figured they would just try and get me to get a new one or say they can not do that. Most likely take it to a shop this week.

I hear you can't patch these if you lose all air pressure.... is that true? Something about the structure of the tire being messed up after you run it with 0 air pressure?
On my last car I had 2 nails in the last 2 months I owned it.... I'm scared to death I'm gonna get one in this and be out $300. |

I bought tire insurance, mistakenly from the dealer. I hear you can get much cheaper tire insurance elsewhere (local tire shop, AAA).
Anyways, I've been reimbursed twice now for flats, in the last year, @ $360 per tire, replaced at the dealership. Too bad it was the same tire each time. |

Ok fixed the tire. Put proper amount of pressure, checked all tires. Now it still has the warning. I drove it around the block real quick did not go away. Will it go away over time of driving? Or can I reset it? If so how?
Thanks.

Im not sure its THAT Expensive for a runflat. From my experiences working at a tire company. The way we did was 10% of the tire cost for tires over 120 bucks each. Which is a pretty good deal. Free replacement on the tire for the life of the tire including blanacing and rotation for free every 5k miles...
Dealer will ALWAYs rip you off. Are the RFT's still on backorder? |

Pretty good. Free replacement for the life of the tire. What's the catch?

I too had a nail in my 255/35R18 Bridgestone RFT...was quoted 320 plus tax to replace it. I then called a couple of local tire shops in SF and asked if RFT can be patched up. They said sure--bring it over and we'll fix it for $25. I did yesterday and so far so good.
So don't believe the BS when they say you have to replace the whole tire. Patching it up is better for the environment and sure easier on my pocketbook
