I was in a similar boat a few years back, albeit, working over in the US when I was 22.

As others have said, great experience and a good opportunity to save up funds for when the time comes to fly back to the UK. That's how I got my deposit saved up to buy my first place (and that wasn't a tax-free environment like the UAE!)

My friend worked under contract in Dubai. Earned about 2 thousand dollars. It was difficult for him to acclimatize, but, fortunately, everything worked out. i know this is a old topic, was started like 6 years ago, but funny you raised it up as i'm considering leaving my current MOD job in aircraft maintenance and working out there, for the money.
