I'd be grateful for help identifying parts I need if this could be DIY'ed by a novice or any ballpark estimates. I've seen quotes for $1-1,400. But again mine's not too bad. I realized what was happening and managed to pry the bumper free with a large phillips on hand.


If this happens to you, pull forward and slide something between the curb and bumper to prevent snagging when you back out. The first thing I did was cut the flat portion out of a Rubbermaid lid when i got home. At least the cat got a new hideout.

It's difficult to say what you need without removing the bumper and checking for damage. I can tell you that the bumper bolts to the fender there using 2 small screws.

Zooming into your pictures, it doesn't appear that the bumper tab used to bolt to the fender is broken, so you might've just pulled the screws out... Take your wheel and fender liner off, then have a closer look at what you need to do to fix it.

I don't think any parts were broken, just plastic rivets/screws like you said. I did find a good write up on taking the fender liner out; should be an easy task. I also found the hole covers for the fender liners that are missing on my car! Only $12/ea.

I just took a closer look at everything. The bolt hole on the bumper (that corresponds to the hole on the bracket nearest my finger in the pic) is broken through. The screw holding it must've done it before going MIA. The metal tab on the fender that the loose end of the bracket attached to was bent downward. I bent that back. The next attachment point, at the other end of the bracket, looks like the screw has been pulled loose. It's still there but it'll need tightening at least. The front section of the fender liner has been pulled downward and is off flush from the rear section by 1/2". I hope that'll come back to place when the bumper is realigned.

I'm thinking some epoxy to fix the broken screw holes on the bumper and find some new hardware to replace the missing stuff. That silver bumper bracket is about $40 so I'm going to try using what's there. It doesn't look messed up. A full hardware kit for the front bumper is $30. I'm going to take stuff off and order the hardware individually as each bolt is only $.50. Pelican Parts has useful writeups on the fender liner and bumper specific to the e90, if anyone from the future is reading this.

Haha! I had thought about taking a paint pen to the silver bracket lol. Thanks for reminding me this thread existed; I had this fixed for $200. I always sweat the bill from the body man, so this is good.
