Sorry for the low res photo, but here's someone running the VS-5 in 17" on an e92. His rear tire looks a little off compared to the fronts

EC-7 18x9 et31 fitment

hello,

i've been browsing and drooling for a month now. new owner of a 335i e90 n54. i wanted a 17" wheel but the EC-7 isn't available in 17. the EC-7R is but out of my price range. looking for the meatier look of a 17x9 with 255/40.

on Bimmerworld they list the offset as ET31 for the 18x9 wheel. is that a typo instead of ET30?

i'd like to run 255/45r18 square on stock suspension with M3 control arms, HR sway bars and Hotchkis links. any modifications required?

thanks in advance!

Hi there,

For our more budget-oriented flow formed wheels, the ARC-8 design is going to be your only option for a 17" setup.

For 18" wheels, we offer all of our flow formed wheel designs in an 18x9" ET30, however, the EC-7 design specifically is an ET31, so no typos on Bimmerworld's end. Fitment-wise, it will be practically the same as the other 18x9" ET30 wheels.

For an E90 non-M 3-Series, we recommend using the 18x9" ET30/31 with 245/40-18 tires at all four corners for a complete direct fit. As a wider alternative, you can also fit 255/35-18 tires as a complete direct fit on a stock car.

255/45-18 tires are going to be way too tall to fit on a non-M E9X, as they are far outside of the 3% threshold in overall rolling diameter compared to the factory tire sizes.

If you would like to check out some of our other non-M E9X offerings, our chassis-specific fitment guide can be found here: https://support.apexraceparts.com/hc...-Fitment-Guide

If you have any other questions, please let me know!

hi Geirsen,
thanks for your reply and input. i figured as much but couldn't hurt to get an answer from the source. you guys are great! i prefer the look of the EC-7 but don't want an 18" so i've put an order in for the Arc-8 17x9 ET30 square with 255/40r17 tires. i live in New York City so i'd prefer a bit taller tire for our horrible roads. can't wait!

hi Geirsen,

as i mentioned, i've ordered the Arc8 ET30 with 255/40/17 square. for a pre-lci e90 daily driver, no track. do you think i'll have an issue clearing up front? this size is only .055mm larger diameter than the OEM 225/45/17. but they're 1.14" wider.

but besides clearing/rubbing do you think in general, adding a -2.5 fixed camber plate is overkill or recommended for a daily driver?

TMS has this fixed -2.5 camber plate.

thanks in advance!

Hi there,

With stock suspension, you can fit the 17x9" ET30 with 255/40-17 tires at all four corners without needing to do too much to support it. Depending on your specific tire selection, typically around -2.0 to -2.5 degrees of front camber will be required to ensure a poke and rub free fitment.

For street use, I always recommend avoiding anything more than around -2.5 degrees of front camber. Once you get past that point, you start to get a bit more inner tread wear and some tramlining/wandering might occur when on the freeway, etc.

That said, the 17x9" ET30 square setup with 255/40-17 tires in a grippy compound, paired with -2.5 degrees of front camber is pretty much the best handling setup you can run on the E9X 3-Series. I would highly recommend going that route if you enjoy spirited driving in the twisties or if you are considering trying out an AutoX or track day in the foreseeable future.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

What are your wheel/tire specs? Are you running coils or springs?

Would love to know, thanks. Looks great!

These finally came in! My annoying vibration at highway speeds is gone, and the ride is much smoother on 17s so I couldn’t be happier 🥲. Just need to give the whole car a wash

Crazy that the brakes fit. You need to clean those headlights up a bit though!

Going to be adding some 12mm spacers to the rear and putting the 5mm in front.
